After the very first Grand Theft Auto game, I've had no desire to play any of the others. The sandbox concept is cool, but I think it's lame to glamorize the life of a criminal. Plus I think it's incredibly stupid how they always include a slutty girl on the cover. I'll never forget being in a Gamestop and listening to some teenagers say the chick from San Andreas (I think) looked hot with her tongue hanging out like a dog.

And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

ahhhh OD, that saddens me .... :) the game is to be enjoyed for what it is, which is open-ended gameplay, do what you want!

sure it has ugly facets, but I just play it to have fun, not get involved in the boundary pushing

What?!?

So I'm the only one who plays it to gain actual street skills and experience?

Well, the sandbox principle is nice, but nowadays it'sused EVERYWHERE. Every game want's to have it, that's lame.

@ OD: Well i don't think the fact that it's making crime nice. It's good to do stuff like that in a game, better then in RL... I mean, in olmost any game you have some sort of violence. Better to do it in a game...

:D

indeed better in a game, I don't actually find it a problem and I think most normal people don't either, just keep it away from developing minds and you should be fine IMO

I'm confused here...

You figure if someone shady approaches you on the street in real life you should lob grenades at them?

In other words what street skills could you possibly learning from this simulation?

Here's my question. Would GTA be considered as an FPS?

Anyways,I'm looking forward to GTA 4. I have high expectations. Of course, I won't be able to play it until I get a ps3.

Nopes, it won't be considered as a shooter. Shooting is not the biggest part of the game, that is driving and doing stuff. It's just a sandbox game, do a little bit of everything...

Actually, I would place shooting as one of the major parts of the game. There were many missions in the previous games that required the use of guns. Granted, GTA: SA gave us a lot more stuff to do, shooting was still a big part of the game and it will always pay a big part.

Well, it COULD be a part of the game. There are a lot of options for missions. But it's still NOT a shooter. The game has more to it then that!

it's not a shooter, it's technically an action/adventure game, implemented via a sandbox methodology

Ah, I see. Many games can be placed in that category, like Daggerfall or Morrowind for instance.

Yeah, that's right. Sandbox principle went big with the release of GTA3. Not in all aspects a good thing...
