Favorite Weapon Skill

Unread postby CoffeeGnome » 24 Oct 2007, 19:25

This is a poll to see what is everyones favorite weapon skill is. This is not asking what skill is the best; (nor is it specific to any version of MM game,) just what weapon skills are peoples' favorites.

Axes are good...
Always a nice variety of 1-Handed and 2-Handed.

Not sure which one I'd consider the best anyway. Would have to check on them, then predict their effectiveness in given situations. And, at the moment, I'd rather not do that.

But for the style that I like the best, it was a toss-up between unarmed, and axe. Axe got it, though.

The axe for me. It's just a marvelous sight seeing a dwarf with an all-powerful axe ;)

I see we seem to have a lot of dwarf and minotaur fans. To tell you the truth I have only once been a hunter in MM7 because axe and identify monster are the only two skills that they can achieve grand master in. Maybie I should give it a try one more time to see how effective axe truly is?

Well axes are slow at first, but this is largely offset late game when each point put into the skill both increases speed and damage, and in both MM7 and MM8 I tend to get powerful unique axes and swords more so than any other weapon types, but sword skill offer no damage increase, so axes it is.
Especially in MM7 where you are guaranteed to get Zokarr's Axe and "The Minotaur Axe" every game (non random)

They sucked in MM6 though. Not only did it require you to go through a difficult quest involving the quasi genocide of the MM6 Dwarf population to get Master Axe (the key skill level), but the classes that can equip them are inferior to the ones that can't.

And yes, Dwarves (MM7) and Minotaurs (MM8) kick ass!

Swords and Spears.
Spears are really powerfull for
a melee class, but I voted swords
cause i like the dual-sword theme :P

Go With the Bow! :-D

I always get my characters the Bow Skill as soon as possible. It's great to be able to 'soften' up attackers from a distance before they can hit your party.

Well bow is definitely the best weapon for early level parties, in mm6-mm7-mm8, no contest!

Bows are pretty cool even in the later stages too, especially when your characters get to Master level and get two arrows per shot.

In MM6 any character can get to Master level in Bow. In MM7 only Archers & Rangers can get to Master level.

Swords - I always liked adventurers with two swords - especially dark elf with two swords (and no, I am not fan of DE with two scimitars :P).
Second is blaster - quick and deadly weapon (and excelent desing in MM6) and you can harden it in MM7.

Bow. Just one of those really helpful things. I really love that crossbow with 'Of carnage'. That coupled with flying around makes you become the equivalent of any modern day gunship. Just add meteor shower or starburst for some nice 'artillery'.

I had to go with axe.

I don't think it's the "best" weapon, but it is probably my favorite. I'd say spear is the best.

Weapons

Unread postby Lyanne » 20 Nov 2007, 02:23

Well, I voted for mace, because they are such perfect weapons for
a Paladin or a Cleric, but it really depends on the character class,
doesn't it? For a Sorcerer, I usually go for double daggers, and
for a Knight, double swords. My Archers get bows and axes, as
they can't equip a shield anyway, and 2-handed axes abound. In
my current game, I am actually developing staff for my Sorcerer,
which is a first for me. So far, so good...

I'm not the one who put them into the game but they can be found in both MM6 & MM7. You are also required to spend quite a few skill points in them to get them to any ranking that can be helpfull in any way.

Oh, please. Sci-Fi has always been an important element in the M&M series.
