Since they went with the Oriental look of the Academy, the names are not at all a surprise.

This was exactly what I meant! I don't think they gave any thought on the meanings (whether religious or not). What is interesting they went ahead and picked random words from an oriental language which fits the town theme. Actually, I liked it!

@ JoniJM
Cyrus is the name of a famous Persian prince, so it's not Arabic.
Maahir means dexterous in Arabic.
Jhora is in Indian, and is the name of a folk dance. :)

Maahir, Nur and Razzak are actually used as human names in Arabic. Nur for females.

I don't have any point by saying these, it's all for those curius and interested. :D

Not sure what you're getting at here. Care to elaborate?

And I hope they've actually made some research before picking the names. It's quite cool that they actually have a meaning, and isn't just random letters put together to sound cool.

Odd indeed; why wouldn't Arabian names be fit in an Oriental atmosphere? The impression the new Academy gives me is that of the "1001 Arabian Nights", full of that indescribable Oriental mystery, magic and charm.

I think that'd be neat if it was deliberate. Shows that there's some thought going into the names, which I think is good.
It can't be a coincidence. And it is a nice idea that they've actually though about the names this time :devious:

Oh, and have you noticed how Baron Von Tarkin rhymes with pumpkin? :|

So I guess it's settled. The hero names in Heroes 5 are definitely better than some...

Baron Von Tarkin rhymes better with Grand Moff Tarkin.

... And Cambounet totally does not rhyme with Boba Fett. :devious:

We should start a petition to get Ubi to replace Fabrice with someone who's name rhyme with Boba Fett. Or at least Jango. :D

Damn rhymes... so ur saying that Darth Lucas is actualy behind the Heroes series, and that all of this names are actualy his clever way of letting people know this. and if we go to confront him he'll kill most of us with his lightsabre and then start hisssssing like some 12 year old?

:x Umm... of COURSE not...
I'm just saying... that Darth Lucas is behind the Academy Town, which is behind all these blue smileys, which are trying to take over Heroes, and he doesn't want to reveal his true identity, so if we say anything about it he'll throttle us with those gigantic genie hands, and maybe he'll pull our heads off and replace them with silly hats so that nobody would notice.
If you think about it... it's actually... quite SCARY. :scared:

Ha ha ha ha ha! The names towards the end were...umm, unforgettable. Most likely not in a good way.

As I said before, I like that the new names seem to have some form of meaning. @ Lord Hoborg, about the scientific nature of the Wizards - it would seem a bit more appropriate to name them stuff like "wisdom", "knowledge", or "power" translated maybe, but who knows, maybe there's some other idea they've got that makes sense.

EDIT: IRT the last few posts - you guys are crazy. ;)

Mongo happens to be a rather strong insult in Swedish for someone that's mentally handicapped. Having it as the name for a barbarian isn't entirely unfitting, even if it isn't within good taste.
