Centaurs?

Unread postby J_L_Seagull » 22 Jun 2007, 23:17

Actually, throwing in Centaurs (even with orc mix) seems a little far fetched for the next expansion. Why not throw in a goblin boar rider or anything else but a centaur. Generally I feel Centaur should be wise good and strong and I feel hard pressed to feel some sort of mating between a Centaur and an Orc (or even some sort of magical experiment). The feel of a creature is important and this "feel" feels just plain wrong. What do you say?

Its not a mating experiment the wizard drove on with (I think) but more of a magical experiment. Also its not a crossmix of a Centaur and Orc but a mix of Human and Nightmare = Centaur.

Im just glad they put the centaur back in. But IMO their look makes me think they deserve a 3rd tier spot instaed. Still Im fine with it as it is :)

Centaurs are the most inconstant race of all HOMM series. If you recall, on Heroes 1 and 2 they were part of the Warlock ranks, till they got new looks and moved to Rampart (or sorceress as you may).

After the whole world as we kwen it went on flames they came as punk-barbarians in HOMM4. And it doesnt bother me at all that in a new world, where new alliances and pacts are taking place, that they join the orcs.

Specially now that they are clearly another race, created by other means (they are certainly not the same creatures from HOMM3).

Which brings us to the mere question of name. Should they be called something else, just because they are another race of horsemen?

IMO they could as well be called ponyberserk with horns. Doenst bother me as long as they are nicely developed and balanced.

Maybe the wizard had some really kinky fetishes?

Well they are wild and drunken... sound about right that they'd not last long in any faction.

To me it makes sense to see them in a nature faction as well as a barbarian. Definitely not a warlock.

If I recall correctly, only one centaur in Greek mytology was wise, good and honorable. Every other centaur was a savage beast without honor (kidnaping and raping human women is considered savage).
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

They even tricked Dejanira into poisoning Hercules!

Tricky evil beasts they are! They should be in Infernos ranks! Confabulating their evil plots with the other ones who would like to set the world on fire!

Wise, pfff! They are just as wise as a Pit Fiend, I tell you!

Ever wondered why the elves got rid of them? After the female elves started delivering sharpshooters with tails, that was!

Oh the thoughts! :ill:

No I wont see on the Centaurs as evil. More like neutral. Of course they take to violence and has a savage attitude. But they are saving that if the lands to them gets invaded etc.

Yup, in civilized society they were sold into marriage by their father, and it's not rape is you're wed.

That was just one centaur, and it was postmortem revenge.

Rape to me is when you push a women down on the ground/dragging away and pushing her down while being violent about it (using enough force so she can't escape).

I've also always thought that accusations of rape when married is impossible. If you married somebody then you should know what you gotted yourself into. And you've probably done it with him lots of times so it can't compare at all to a standard rape.

And a man that gets dominated by his women cannot feel like a man anymore. If he's normal he would be so full of shame he would be an archslipper.

Centaurs, oh yes....Amazing that they've been in so many versions and that you still believe that they really fit into each and every town they've been in.

I had the impression you were a hopeless case after the closed thread in the news section. Now I'm sure of it.
