Free GameTap (and M&M?) Soon

Unread postby Angelspit » 02 May 2007, 01:57

Turner Broadcasting has announced plans to offer free access to a part of <a href="/http://www.gametap.com/">GameTap</a> starting May 31. GameTap is a PC gaming digital distribution service that combines classics (<i>Joust, Space Invaders, Robotron 2084, Rampage...</i>) and more recent titles (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend, Warlods BattleCry 3 and the first season of Sam & Max). While customers pay $9.95 per month or less based on the plan they choose (there's a $0.99 tryout), free users will need to watch advertisement. To make a long story short, I'm telling you this because several Might and Magic games are served on GameTap: Heroes I to IV and Might and Magic II to V are all there, as well as <a href="/http://www.gametap.com/home/game_titles ... y=13">more Ubisoft titles</a> (Michel Ancel's Beyond Good and Evil is a little jewel that didn't get the success it deserved). It would be nice if some of them were part of GameTap's list of free titles later this month -- I would love to try Might and Magic II on my current PC!

I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

I hate when something good like this gets announced and you find out by yourself that it's only available in the states. I expected to get told in the newsitem that it was like that

Angelspit, if you're interested, I've got a winxp compatible version of MM2 that came with my Mandate of Heaven limited edition. It's actually win95 compatible but it works fine on xp as well. If you're interested let me know. I'm pretty sure I could just zip it all up together and e-mail it to you. It's a pretty small file for an entire game. And IMO it's the best MM game out there. It's extremely dated (as you'd expect) but fun as h*ll. :O)

oh, and the US rocks! *grin* sorry guys.

SC, I sent it to him yesterday as soon as I read his wish. I couldnt bear the thought of someone wanting to play MM2 and not being able to. It's gut wrenching.

Abandonia offers several (Heroes of) Might and Magic games, as well as a great number of other 'abandoned' titles for free, regardless of your location on the globe.

Heroes of Might and Magic:

Heroes of Might and Magic (Windows version)

http://www.abandonia.com/games/797/down ... rsion).htm

World of Xeen (Might and Magic IV + V)

Or just go to http://www.abandonia.com/ and browse through all available titles.

There are other sites like Abandonia as well, like Best Old Games. Their English site can be found at http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/.

You can find Might and Magic I here:

And Might and Magic II here:
