Tribes of the East- the last of HV?

Unread postby erased. over. out » 07 Apr 2007, 20:47

Hello all. I really haven't been keeping up with my HoMM news, but I read that Tribes of the East (if they go ahead with that title) will be the last we hear of HV? I was hoping for an additional expansion after this stand-alone product. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

According to the press release they said something like 'the final chapter of heroes v" so that seems to say yes. It also just makes sense, 8 factions 3 sets of campaigns, it's a full game. Time for heroes VI.

On the other hand, on the Oblivion forums a developer came in and said they had no plans for an expansion. But there is one on the market now.

They could include some additional minor content in patches (but why should they, if not to please the fans?).

The game would have to bring an unexpected huge boost in sales, to convince them it's worth investing in a 3rd add-on.

It is unclear on how well H-V and HOF did sales wise. So since this one is a stand alone it is probably the last. Frankly if they don't do something about the editor then :rip:, and hope for a different company that cares more about fan desires to create H-VI.

Yeah, I’m actually a bit surprised they got enough revenue to justify a second expansion. Unless they planned to do two expansions from the beginning and only pretended otherwise to get people to buy the game. My impression was that the general reaction for HV has been at best, decidedly lukewarm. And it only got to that point because of HoF adding caravans and whatnot.

They did plan the 2 expansions from quite the beginning. The map of Ashan that came with the Collector's edition of the original game was already hinting towards the other 2 alignments. ;)

The original game or HoF should have actually been quite a disaster, for them to reconsider sticking with the plan.

IIRC Fabrice (? Maybe I’m just attributing it to him because he’s the only one to stick in my memory, I might go dig for it later) said they’d decide on the number of expansions depending on the sales of the original game.

From what i recall the sales weren't bad for a TBS.

And that quote doesn't imply that they didn't plan for what every expansion they could put out would contain, just that they'd only make the ones the money gained made worth it.

I think there should be 9 factions (ofc Nagas) because poor Shalassa isn't worshipped by anyone

So either they make Nagas in the second expansion, or there should be a third one :D

I don't think that there will be the 3rd expansion. And maybe they'll make Nagas in Heroes VI :D

If ToE is succesful (which I hope), they'll make a new add-on with lizardmen*.

*Naga will probably be like Faceless and Angels: just worshiped by a smaller race.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

They're making a stand-alone version... sounds like they wanna wrap it up.

TotE can't go for full price. The Gold version will go for that.

Perhaps if they move on, they can begin HoMM VI with all these valuable lessons learned about what NOT to do...perhaps I'm being overly optimistic :D
