And yet, for some reason, the movies don't stop selling. :)

Because Steven has great actors to rescue the movies. Every movie I have watched of his I like (and yes I like the movies) have had wonderful actors to spice things up. Same goes with Mr Claude though. Great supporting actors. Lots of action, explosions, ect. Give me Bruce Lee or Chuck (as much as it gets old 10 yr olds saying something like his beard is god or something) Norris. At least they had flair. Though Chucky got into the "I have one look" with Walker, Texas Ranger. As for females that can kick butt and take names, me personally I won't get tired of them, with a few exceptions.

Like Catwoman (ug, make it go away!).

My son finally nagged hubby and myself into watching Pulp Fiction last night. *sigh* As much as I love John Travolta, I'm just not seeing the 'Greatness' of this film. (And I have to suffer through at least one more 'chapter' tonight as we 'had' to turn off the movie to watch LOST. - I was greatly releived.)

There is no feeling of greatness just a series of intertwining lives in a raw, cruel environment. I liked it though it's certainly not my style.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

It's Tarantino at his best... it's all the gibberish talk that makes the movie.

Uma Thurmond was amazing.

Anybody else psyched up for Grindhouse next week?

Yep. Hubby's excited about Grindhouse. But we'll be going to see "Dead Silent" - I think that's the name... lady ventriloquist who dies and her dummies come back for revenge - or something.

I want to see "Wild Hogs." My son wants to see "Reno". Guess I'll be spending all weekend at the theater.

My wife wants me to clean the garage this weekend, and Sunday maybe go for a walk around some lake. How cool are we? :|

Grindhouse looks great. I love the super cheesy Noir-esque films.

I saw Fifty Pills and Harsh Times yesterday.

Fifty Pills was a pretty interesting comedy, with some unexpected plot twists . That, and the protagonist has the same name I do with a e instead of an I. :D

Harsh Times is, as they say, a Training Day clone, but worthy to be watched in its own right. Seems like Christian Bale is everywhere now!

300 was terrible, though also terribly fun. The dialogue sounded like something lifted from a high school scriptwriting workshop. Great action sequences, though. Glad I didn't pay to see it.

Next up, I'll be seeing the Korean horror flick entitled "The Host".

I just saw 300 today and while it was good, I don't think I'd go out of my way to watch it again.

As one of my female classmates said: oiled up buff men... first reason why it will be seen by females. And the fact that they weren't really into women doesn't count much. She pretty much gave me a reason not to d/l it.

Admit it. You actually luuuuuv to be a drag.

I'm trying to avoid hijacking this "good movies" thread by starting an off the topic discussion about the effect of a certain movie on politics and instead of appreciating, it somehow p***es you off. :devious:

I'll remember this next time you'll warn me for going off-topic on other threads. *tsk tsk*

I watched Casino Royale last night. As Bond films go, it was pretty good. Definitely a notch above the recent Brosnan entries, some of which were just dreadful (although, I don't think Brosnan made a bad bond - the screenplays were just terrible). I actually thought Daniel Craig made a great bond. He had an edginess to him, while at the same time was very suave. And he didn't play the part over the top. Pretty good take on the Bond character. Anyone else have an opinion on Craig as the new Bond?
