<a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/614><img src=https://www.celestialheavens.com/admin/ ... _logo1.jpg align=right border=10></a>It is my great pleasure to announce the results of our Heroes 5 map-making contest. In the end we had 11 valid entries, which means the judging panel was required to select three winning maps. These maps, in order, are:

1 - <a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... earch>Fury of the Elements</a>

2 - <a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... rch>Coming Home</a>

3 - <a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... h>Dragon's Cape</a>

Congratulations to the map-makers who submitted maps for our contest, and especially to the three winners who made extremely enjoyable maps. The judging panel had a great time playing through them and, after a bit of deliberation, were unanimous in our decision. Full reviews of each of the entries will be posted shortly.

Thanks again for creating a successful contest, and keep tuned for more contests in the future!

And they won't even get a "CH seal of approval"!? Ubi is more generous...

Well done indeed. I have to say Fury of the Elements gave me one of the best games I've played so far in Heroes 5.

If you look at the original contest page https://www.celestialheavens.com/614

then it says copies of Heroes Complete or Amazon gift certificates as prizes.

Some lame and boring copies of Heroes Complete and Amazon gift certificates cannot substitute the cool Seal of Approval.

Ok, I can understand that CH is not as big and wealthy company like Ubisoft, but this is just low. Shame on you, people! This is a punch in the face of all mapmakers out there.

Ubisoft rulz!

Seems like Myythryyn has firmly entrenched himself as the champion of Homm V map making.

I'm ready for the next round. This time make it Large and Extra Large maps for those who like big adventures. (And no complaints from the judges. In one AstralWizard contest I judged, there were 37 L/XL maps to play.)

The problem I see Caradoc, if you fully populate and script a XL map the system requirements will become an issue and may detract from someone enjoying an otherwise beautiful map. Particularly since Nival gave us only moving objects.

@Pitsu:

What Vel wrote.

A seal of approval is a mark of respect and recognition for any mapma... *runs away from Kalah*

Edit: Oh yeah, congrats to the winners!

Ubisoft is giving seal of approval?!? Maybe I will participate like I didn't participate in that GS or WoW mapmaking contest NWC made back then.

Congrats for winners as well.

The Seal of Approval is the prize for Ubisoft's own mapmaking contest, which is closed by now I think.

Caradoc, we will not be running an XL competition. My computer is an AMD 3200XP with 1bg ram and a 9600 graphics card and XL maps are simply unplayable. For instance, I had heard good things about battle for androna but had to give up about half way through because program lag just made it incredibly frustrating and slow to play. I'm not sure what we'll do next, but either way, I don't think XL maps will be eligible, sorry. Blame it on a seriously unoptimised game...

Congratulations winners, I haven't played them yet but plan too. On the topic of 'seal of approval' subject, The way I see it, the winners got the CH seal of approval even if it isn't visable, it is within each of CH followers hearts! :)

I agree with Psychobabble on the X-large maps, they are incredibly slow and choppy. I am playing one of the fans maps now and I don't think I can finish it, it gets worse by the minute.. 1st one I've had this much trouble with.. so for me, I'll stick to the smaller maps.

Having only recently upgraded, I appreciate the plight of those who can't play XL maps. However there is an audience for them, so it might make more sense to wait a year or so to allow technology to catch up rather than ignoring them completely.

For now, I assume you are able to handle a Large map, so could we try that?
