Patches 1.41/2.1 Out Early
Ubisoft finished the server updates early today, so the game patches were posted ahead of time (but not before I finished my second run at the Inferno campaign, thanks to a downgrade to 1.3). Patch 1.4 (sometimes called 1.041) for the base game fixes the gating bug with a small 18 MB download. Patch 2.1 (or 2.01?) for the Hammers of Fate expansion is much larger at over 120 MB. Download them from here, or just run the Check for Updates program. By the time I write this, the transfer rate is very good.

Couldn't be better timing! Having only just reached a point where the gating bug crashed a campaign yesterday...very convenient to check and find the update was due in a day's time

Minipatch? Didn't know that.arturchix wrote:Because it's not 1.5.
1.41 is a minipatch, that fixes a nasty gating bug and switches to the new Ubisoft servers, while 1.5 is in the works (I suppose). For example, the new necromancy changes at least now will work in Hammers of Fate only so we will have to wait for 1.5.

Oh, I was just wondering when I was going to start playing with Necros to see those new features, but not in this 1.41 yet? What a shame.
I'll have to wait until tomorrow then...

18 MB for a single bug?

Does 1.5 have roughly the same changes as 2.1?

As far as game balance changes are concerned, yes. But 1.5 is another of the "content-patches" as well.

The readme says that for 1.41 they had to include the whole game executable, which explains the size of the file.

I have HOF. I am confused.. Do I need both patches (1.41 - 2.1)?
Fabrice on the ubi forum wasn't too clear if we own both games if we have to install both patches.
I noticed if you go to UBI's website and click on patch download's
for H-V at
H-V http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=1628
it only has patch 1.41 version & not the 2.1
and on the HOF patch download page at
http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=2103
It only has the patch 2.1 version. So I am assuming the 1.41 fixes only the H-V version and the 2.1 fixes only the HOF version..
So if we are still playing both versions than I assume we install both patches but I am not sure, does anyone know>>>
And I also assume patch 1.5 hasn't been released yet and wonder if it will be for both games or just for H-V and not HOF, does anyone know?

Autoupdate works well. Very nice, Ubi.

Are you sure about instaling both patches?
Another thing, the Dwarven heroes in old maps, fixed or not? It doesn't work for me.

2 1/2 months for a mini-patch? Doesn't anyone else find that to be ridiculous?

As far as I am aware, you only need to install the HOF patch if you have HOF, and the other one if you don't have the expansion.
Use the autoupdater, but make sure to turn your AV off first, since my AV blocked the exe when it tried to run.
Dwarven Heroes in old maps only seems to work for official maps I think, not custom maps that aren't HOF friendly. You still need to edit them in the map editor to get old maps to work properly.

There are two auto updaters, one for each part of the game (standard and expansion) so if you use them to update, make sure to run them separately... You can fnd them in the Heroes5 folder, in the directories "bin" and "bina1". Hope this helps some folks out there..
