As an aside, do you prefer the ogre solely as a warrior type creature, or as a mixture warrior-spellcaster?

I voted H4 mostly because of that awesome chain robe/dress.

I'm afraid so too. However let them surprise us in good.

considering what Haven Footman and Sylvan Druid look like and how very preserving Nival is about what creature looks were like in previous homms(eg gargoyle), i would be VERY surprised if h5 ogre looked exactly like Warcraft 3 ogre.

Voted HOMM1

Not only because of the Ogre's look, which was great, but because the HOMM1 Ogre is the best Ogre of the series in gameplay. Creatures like the Hydra and the Ogre have always had movement and speed problems, but with HOMM1's small batlefield, they totally rocked!

Besides... with haste they went step step step step Wham!!!!

H2... gotta love the golden axe. The lack of green and its resemblance to theactual myths are great pluses imo.

H4 Ogre Mage, because it has my most favourite death animation in any HoMM game.

EDIT: As for your question, Metathron, I prefer them as warrior-spellcasters.

H1 ogre looks like the true ogre should look ;) Ogres that use magic are too funny for me to like them... The true ogre should be wild beast and know nothing else but how to kill ;)

Depends on which mytology you refer too. Somewhere ogres as dumb as a plant, and somewhere they are smartest goblinoids.

I prefer the brute type of Ogre.
Hence my choice, H3 unupgraded. I would have chosen the upgraded one if it didn't have bloodlust spellcasting ability.

I also prefer the Tolkienesque kind of powerful warrior ogre, but I really like the style of HoMM 4's ogre as well (nice flip flops :)). After some consideration, I voted for H1. He looks genuinely frightening, and I would not want to chance upon him in a dark, remote forest. :S

Voted Heroes II upgraded. Those guys were unstoppable in large numbers and I love the sound effect when being hit.

Heroes III unupgraded. I like heroes I ogre too, but I never played the game so I went with the other one. Ogres are supposed to be strong, but no intelligence creatures IMO, Heroes II looks like a sheep and Heroes IV ogre looks too intelligent for my taste.
