Naga Town

Unread postby raju » 11 Dec 2006, 04:51

Yeah I agree too many eleves would imbalamce the game. Therefore I think a Naga town would be more appropriate. I think Nival might introduce a naga town but am not sure. Since i don't know what creatures to ally with a naga town i am putting a list of creatures that i hope would be appropriate.
Level 1: Frostling Guard; upg to Frostling Warrior
Level 2: Wolf; upg to Doom Wolf
Level 3: Ice Maiden; upg to Ice Sorceress
Level 4: Pegasus; upg to Silver Pegasus
Level 5: Ice Demon; upg to Ice Demon Lord
Level 6: Naga; upg to Naga Queen
Level 7: Frost Dragon; upg to Storm Dragon
I hope someone can come up with a more suitable creature list; I based mine on the assumption that a naga town might be found on snowy environment.

The wolf is already in as a neutral,so it wont be in the town in the expansion.Except for it and the dragon,I like the diversity. But lets see some abilities here.

But they already have a town lineup ready,so all of this is just speculation.Plus,I doubt that the new town would be so diverse.

Actually I like the list, and there are many types of wolves. Maybe they are more like Worgs hehe. Anyhow, the list is not bad :). Whoever wants the skill list perhaps they can suggest something?

I'm not keen on another dragon, especially a frost one, I can sense a pallete swap looming, and the Ice Demon Lord just doesn't roll off the tongue, apart from that, I like it, but would like some more "naga" type creatures present, maybe a salamander or something like that

We already have wolves (and too many dragons, btw). And demons don't fit in there at all.

Why do you think that Nagas deal with frost / ice / whatever? Ok, it makes sence since they are connected to water, but they are reptilian after all.

Here are my creature proposals:
- naga melee unit (the good old one)
- naga shooter (medusa)
- naga spellcaster
- giant snake / basilisk
- former fortress creatures (like wyvern, serpent fly, ...)
- beast men (like harpy)

Please, please, no more dragons... "inflation" is the word; if there are dragons everywhere, what's so special about 'em?

Suggest instead a Hydra for level 7.

The only problem being that hydra is already a level 5 creature in another town.

But that's a Deep Hydra. If we can have 4 dragons why not 2 Hydras. We can always have Swamp Hydra and Royal Swamp Hydra.

The Pegasi/ Silver Pegasi should have the magic damper ability from Heroes 3 (if only for nostalgia's sake).

Maybe the level 7 could be a Wyrm (Master of Magic style; which was essentially a HUGE worm that could burrow). In that case, one of it's abilities could be No Retaliation (and be the first level 7 to have it :-D).

I'll keep thinking about it :-D. I like the creatures though :) .

Nope; that would be the aura of magic resistance. Magic damper makes your opponent's spells more expensive (by 2 Spell Points in Heroes 3...don't know how it should work here).

New naga town creatures

Unread postby raju » 12 Dec 2006, 23:24

I have come up with a few new creature names that I am hoping are more suitable for a naga town:
Level 2: instead of wolves I came up with 2 alternatives:
Halfling; upg to Halfling Elder or: Serpent Rider; upg to Basilisk Rider
Level 5: instead of Ice Demon I came up 2 alternatives as well:
Valkyrie; upg to Amazon or: Syron; upg to Arachon
I think that all other creatures are suitable and I am still working on the creature abilities; can somebody help me out with suggestions?? Would really appreciate that. Also people are calling for less Dragons as Level 7 creatures in the game; can anybody suggest a level 7 creature for this town?

Off the top of my head....
Um, halflings/halfling elders should be Lucky (luck cannot drop below +1) as no unit has that yet and halflings had that in Heroes 3 :-D.
Maybe the level 7 could be a Wyrm (Master of Magic style; which was essentially a HUGE worm that could burrow). In that case, one of it's abilities could be No Retaliation (and be the first level 7 to have it ). :-D
 ...I quote myself. :)

I'll keep thinking of other abilities and such :D .

The too many dragon comments remind me of Earthdawn a Paper and pencil roleplaying game. In ED there were "common" dragons, but they hated to be called that, so a player remarked, "Should we call them ordinary dragons? or perhaps 'Can't hardly spit without hitting one of these darn' dragons?"

Perhaps a Water Wyrm like say a leviathan.

After some thought I came up with an alternative to having dragons as level 7 creatures in Naga town. How about we have:
Level 7: Ssithrathi; upg to Royal Ssithrathi
I suggest that Ssithrathi be somewhat like the hydra in Heroes 2 but with more features like faster speed, more hit points and special abilities like no enemy retaliation or multi headed attack like the hydra. Of course the overall appearence should not be like the hydra. Besides the Ssithrathi are serpents so they would be suitable for a naga town. What say?

I like it! :D
Maybe the unupgraded Ssithrathi could have one head, and it grows another one when it upgrades. :D

Hmm...Giving it tentacles instead of numerous heads might do the trick.

Yeah, just give the unit a name nobody can pronounce and let the enemies twist their tongues. That would be a powerful ability!
