Heroes-minded ERM suggestions from a neophyte

Unread postby Nucleon » 19 Jan 2006, 16:09

Yep, a neophyte. And as such, Nucleon have no idea if what He suggest is possible to program. Ah well, here it goes:

a) "Neutral" heroes; Heroes that do not belong to any town, all neutral creature specialists for Nomads, Rogues, Trolls, Enchanteresses, Mummies, Werewolves, Hellsteeds/Nightmares and Halflings, or even Peasants (a revolutionnary leader, no doubts).

b) Constant Hero level advance; What Nucleon means is an option that makes heroes stick to their pre-10th lvl advance scheme, making them more specialized in their respective fields of Might or Magic instead of getting them all alike at lvl 20. Or the option to extend the 1-9 lvls advance scheme up to lvl 12, or 15, or 18, for exemple.

c) An option who will allow creature specialists to upgrade their own speciality creatures on their own screen, for a price. So, for exemple, Dace would be able to upgrade his Minotaurs to Minotaur Kings for 75 gold apiece.

How about that?

Greetings, Neophyte. Before posting more, I'd recommend you browse through the stickies, to see what they're about: one of them would be a perfectly suitable place for this discussion.

a). Dunno. Adding heroes would be a farily complex task (if at all possible), and they would most likely have to belong to a town.

b). Unsure- Making them have the same progress table all over (or rather, two identical tables) should be doable, but chagning the limit might not be. Anyhow, I believe it has to be done through external files, and as such wouldn't be possible to have as an option on the Options screen...

c). Should be easy to script, if someone wants to ;)

I could live with that... I'm ready to twist some wires, I think it would be worth it.

You make it sound so easy...

b) This is quite easy to script. But might heroes would become unattractive, becaurse knowlage means very much in the middle of the game.
I can send you the changed TXT file to test.

That would be much appreciated.

That's true that many types of Might heroes, and especially Barbarians, Beastmasters, Knights and Rangers, will then have to look for Gardens of Revelation, Star Axis and Schools of Magic if they want to be able to cast a minimum in combat. They got to have a disavantage, because their Attack and Defense skills will be devastating.

Nucleon's e-mail is MVictorPjinsiste@yahoo . ca. He should owe you one for that.

Thanks a lot my friend. Nucleon shall report how it goes. And he shall sing your praises as well, meaning credit.
