They happen every, what, 3 days? As it's only second week after its introduction, so I can't say with 100%, but so far boss appears only during weekends . you must spend a great amount of energy to engage in each battle: 30, 70, 100 (need confirmation). I think it was 30, 50, 70 energy last weekend...
