Re: Tech Corner

I've decided not to get AOC one. The Samsung you listed is about $600. Not too bad. The following Samsung is about $900. Does it have your stamp of approval? http://www.microcenter.com/product/480793/LC49HG90_49_DFHD_144Hz_HDMI_DP_FreeSync_HDR_Curved_LED_Monitor Cheaper one: https://www.newegg.com/P...

Re: Tech Corner

Is panel type important consideration? I've read that overall advantages of IPS make it better than VA, but the main difference is IPS has better color accuracy while VA has better contrast. :| The monitor I was looking at had MVA panel. It also appears to be a replica of this Philips monitor: https...

Re: Tech Corner

So it sounds like it would not be good for gaming because it doesn't have free-sync and it might not be good for the long-term because it doesn't have HDR (unless unlikely scenario it gets added with firmware update?) That's a shame.

Any large sized white/silver monitors you recommend?

Re: Tech Corner

I'm thinking about getting this monitor for about $300 which I think is a low price, but maybe that price is too good to be true. Is it outdated or have any problems/limitations? I'm not sure what features for a monitor I should prioritize? http://www.microcenter.com/product/484158/C4008VU8_40_4K_UH...

Any problems a 40 inch (100 cm) monitor might present for general computer use? It is curved if that makes any difference.

Re: Tech Corner

The RX 580 prices have come down a little (about $300) after that price hike because of the miners, but memory RAM prices have sky rocketed. The cheapest 16GB (2 8GB) costs about $160. It used to be half that price. 8|

Re: Tech Corner

Pol, what is your take on the "Pinnacle Ridge" AMD processor?

Bahaha, just checked the I9 processor and motherboard bundle; $2,000 USD. 8|

In Michigan, temperature is only high or low and it feels like there are only two seasons - the worst ones. :(

Ori is a beauty. I'd also recommend Valdis Story, Dust Elysian Tale, Hollow Knight, and Rabi Ribi. Maybe Salt and Sanctuary. ;|

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

It's hard to believe I posted this almost three years ago and the game doesn't even have a release date yet. It has been even longer for other metroidvania type games like Death's Gambit, Hart Forth Alicia, Monster Boy, Chasm, and a few others. I don't like this trend and it will feel like a k...

Re: H7 vs taking things into our own hands

To me the original h5/tote is unplayable because... I revisted H5 recently and one thing that stood out to me is how significantly imbalanced spells/abilities affect combat. I'm not a fan of the take control of enemy spells even if they can be countered with cleansing. For example, seducer skill wi...

Re: Tech Corner

It seems like the $250 range is most bang for buck. There's over $100 jump from I5 to I7 or 1700x to 1800x. 8|
