It's an odd feeling to be at work in a building above the cloud that's raining on people outside.

My favourite H3 map is Reclamation . What I really like about it is that it doesn’t suffer from the Superhero and One-battle-wins-the-game syndromes. It achieves this by banning Town Portal, Dimension Door and Fly spells, and by starting the player with two towns, on different sides of the map. To ...

Re: Heroic: environment

Spells can affect the adventure map environment. For example, casting Frost Bite on a river, a lake or a coastal sea tile freezes it for a day, allowing units to walk over it. Casting Whirlwind on a sea tile makes the weather over the region windy, increasing ship movement. Casting Inferno on a for...

Since CH is in-part about strategy games, I think we should recommend Galactic Civilizations 2. It has an excellent single-player experience with an AI that keeps up with a human (without cheating) better than I've seen before. I wouldn't recommend GalCiv1 though after playing 2.

Yes, assuming you can afford it you should make it as soon as you can. Consider how the total number of angels grows by week. Portal of Glory built on day 7, Castle built in second week: 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, ... Portal of Glory second week, Castle built first week: 0, 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, ... Portal of G...

Well, just one Angel can do quite a bit by itself. That'll save you 3000 gold right there. And you could always go for the Castle instead if you can't make the gold requirements for the Portal of Glory. A 50% bonus to the growth of everything else will balance missing out on a couple of Angels.

I think each Pit Lord is capable of summoning a certain number of hit points. The total number of Demons summoned is capped at the number of creatures in the dead stack or the total HP of the dead stack, whichever is lower.

I'm not sure of the exact formula, but it's based on the slowest creature in your army. That's why Rampart players leave the Dwarves at home when creeping (or always :-D), for example.

You need something besides Grand Elves in a creeping army and Centaur Captains are fast enough to not slow your army down. The Grand Elves will do most (if not all) of the work anyway.

Bersaglio, please be more respectful. I assure you Banedon knows what he's talking about. Unless Centaur Warchiefs are a WOG addition I'm not familiar with, it's probably just a translation difference between game versions.

The American announcers are calling it the Tour de Norway now. I don't think the god of thunder is getting the maillot jaune back though. ;) BTW, you seriously need to put a spoiler alert on those posts. :-D I watch the evening re-broadcasts of each stage because the live broadcast goes through my w...

Mandating quick combat levels the playing field a bit by removing tactical skill as a variable. Players will have to focus more on the high level strategy and be able to deal with the inevitable losses. Ideally, all players should face the same attrition rate since it's the same AI fighting all batt...

Not much of a choice; I don't get what the people who went for economy first were thinking. Maybe they were... playing against the AI on a larger map on low difficulty not playing Barbarian Breakout forgetting that your creature dwellings cost more than just gold What the OP should take away from t...

Torur, you're describing almost exactly my experience with some of the more open free-for-all maps from H2 and H3. You can't close off any one region completely, so you're always fending off attacks from multiple directions. You have to find a way to cover more ground than one superhero can cover by...

It sounds to me like you've gotten so good at this game that it's become boring. If you're not having fun anymore, then by all means go play something else. But since this is a discussion, I'm compelled to ask: what could be changed to make Heroes games un-boring?

If both sides are playing well, then the total levels of the three heroes will be about the same as the level of the superhero. And if the game is well-balanced, this should be a reasonably fair fight. But I think your point was that the group of heroes should have the advantage, making it a dominan...

The trick to balancing a Leadership attribute is ensuring that it pays off to not always choose a bigger army. That's a hard problem. Leadership works in King's Bounty because you have a single hero. It's a way to throttle the player's progress through the game. In a multiple hero game I think it ju...
