That's not a full fridge. You can still see part of the shelves.

I also noticed the full wine rack next to the fridge. You didn't give us any details about that...

I think Kalah's right about this, sadly. If Ubisoft keeps making a decent return on their investment, Heroes games will continue. They probably won't be making the games we veterans want to play. To borrow a Unix aphorism, if you want Heroes 3, you know where to find it. On a positive note, "to...

What more could you really ask for? They told us what their high-level priorities were, what they're doing now, and what they might do later. The trouble is the level of effort needed to turn H6 into a real polished game anytime soon is likely well beyond what they have. It's really hard to make a b...

I watched the last 20 minutes of the Spain-Italy match yesterday. Spain had a ton of scoring chances but couldn't net a game-winner. Also, the ref gave out three yellows in the span of four minutes. It didn't appear that any of them were warranted. Nobody seemed to protest that much though.

Re: A most joyful family event

My wife (CH member Tiare) is pregnant with our much awaited first-born, and she is due to give birth in mid-August.
I'll raise a Yurian-sized pint to that. Congrats!

Reading between the lines a bit, here's my two-sentence summary:

1. You, the fan community, don't affect the success of the Heroes games nearly as much as you think.

2. We (Ubisoft) are making lots of money off the MM franchise so we must be doing something right.

Patch 1.3 Launches, Black Hole Replaced

Sure sounds to me like Black Hole was fired. It'd be interesting to hear Ubisoft's side of that story, but I don't think that's very likely to happen.

I was impressed by some J. Lohr Cabernet this weekend. It was quite good and only $10 a bottle.

I had to read three other threads before I could comment intelligently on this one.
Sorry, I didn’t realise that it was that bad.
No apologies necessary. Where I come from, that's a compliment! :-D

Have you read the rest of the Heroic design threads? This is one of the less complicated ones. The entire set is incredibly detailed and holistic. I had to read three other threads before I could comment intelligently on this one. Anyway, there are no numbers yet attached to anything, so game balanc...

I think you have more than enough detail here, actually. My primary concern now is how they play into your overall strategy (i.e., making intelligent choices that matter). In H3, there was no choice. If you had the cash to spare, you bought whatever war machines you could because they were cheap and...

I like this in principle. Anything that makes the environment matter for more than movement costs is a good thing. I do have a couple of questions though. 1. What happens when you siege a town located on the wrong terrain type? Suppose I'm attacking a castle with concrete walls. If my launcher can o...

Re: H6 Patching Policy

I remember when Heroes 2 came out. Not even the slightest bug. Sure it was kinda simpler, but not that much. Everything worked perfectly and I am not even aware of any patch for it. There were a few patches, actually, but if you bought H2 Gold or the GOG edition they're probably baked in. Still, it...

Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. I think Heroes is a minor title for Ubisoft anyway. If they didn't do something to ensure good sales numbers then it would probably be an easy decision to drop the franchise entirely. We (the people who care enough to post on forums) are the only sales they stood to l...

I'll be attending four family Christmas parties in the span of 24 hours. Thankfully, two of them are at the same house. I estimate I'll probably see about 50 relatives over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

See, this is why game design is a holistic process. I had forgotten about how your economic model worked. These scenarios fall squarely in the "heavy customization" clause in my original arguments. As you now describe them, Ruins actually have a critical first-mover advantage because you'r...

You're right, you could say the same about a lot of things, provided they're sufficiently well guarded. I'm talking about a level much higher than normal creeping, where the experience payoff isn't nearly high enough to make up for losses in army strength. For people who haven't played H2, haunted g...
