Clash of Heroes to be released on December 1st
Capybara Games says on their twitter that the game will be released on December 1st. (Found via RPGamer. Don't know where should I post about it, so I choose the H5 forum.) Also, the game is getting very good reviews. The one that stands out the most is Edge, the British game magazine known for its ...

JVC hired by EA to lead Command and Conquer brand
The game industry site Gamasutra has obtained an EA internal memo. Among other things, it confirms Jon Van Caneghem is... what?! Hired to lead the development of Command and Conquer? http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/26120/EA_Memo_Confirms_Pandemic_Consolidation_Van_Caneghem_Hire.php It almost soun...

Can we talk about those NWC HV pictures here? :D I recall from an old Round Table post (StrategyPlanet era) that someone visited NWC, and saw the six HV towns listed on a blackboard. In fact, I'm sure many people here still remember it. They are: Castle, Dragon, Fairy, Myth, Necropolis, Wizard I mad...

(news worthy?) new way to play Heroes II online
I've just heard that the free multiplayer service GameRanger now supports Heroes II. I have never used it, Surely it can be great news for some? I don't have time to test it, so I can't report what it is like to use it.

An update: Here's a download of Heroes II MIDI, converted to MID files. http://www.mirsoft.info/gmb/music_info.php?id_ele=MTQxNjk= It's converted with XMI2MID. Interestingly, on the very same website, there is an article warning against doing that, saying you should record MIDI directly from the gam...

I'm writing this from memory, so there might be mistakes. 1) Use Resedit to open the game data file. You can download it from CH: https://www.celestialheavens.com/567 2) Find the files with the extension .XMI. Those are RAD extended MIDI files, a file format commonly used by 90s computer games. Extr...

The Battle for Middle-earth series fits your description. They have very simple (but not shallow) gameplay and pretty graphics. You do need to click a bit in order to cast some spells and such, but it's as simple as RTS goes. The first game has cities with walls, the second game plays more like a co...

Regarding the H4 grass theme
(Old forum members probably have thought of most things I'll discuss here.) I know some people like the Grass adventure theme in H4, but I've always find it an oddity that sticks out in H4's otherwise beautiful soundtrack. As we all know, H4's grass.mp3 is basically several themes for other terrains...
