Not gonna happen unless Ubisoft sells the franchise (hear the hollow ring).

No good word for the massive amount of bugs and the fact the game was unplayable after release. Even the beta was more playable. But the lack of town screens is a choice not laziness. Town screens add little to gameplay and take quite a lot of time and energy to make. They didn't HAVE to add town s...

+1 or +2 for every two rows added. As for tactical variety, on a flat field, probably not a lot, but it allows you to add in some much bigger obstacles without compromising free-access too much.

So you increase movement speed and/or decrease the long-range power of archers.

HoMM.com issues

Anyone know what's going on with the www.heroesofmightandmagic.com site? I've been unable to access it for the past couple of days.

Well except for the Harpy, virtually all of the Stronghold units go red when they upgrade. Still, it seriously does look daft. Ought to see what Negativland over on Heroes Community can make of it.

Never say never. You can see by HVI and its DLCs, that Ubisoft learnt some lessons, the questions is, is it enough to improve next games or they still will screw them up too? As we can see by H6's easy and friendly map editor, powerful Random Map Generator, modding support, simultanously turns, det...

One of the latest comments on their facebook page is that the old universe is dead and gone, thus you'll never get it back.

As for saying H3 added nothing, what about spell schools and the 'paper doll'? Also the grail building although this is a mixed blessing, some people prefer the grail, some liked the old ultimate artifacts. Also, on that basis, isn't H2 just a slightly updated version of the original (the only reall...

The castle as well is built in the shiro style, though with plain rather than painted wood. Some of the houses too look decidedly 'Aisan', with curved slope roofs and more ornate ridges than in many European buildings.

So that tells us what? That Ubisoft have finally realised the importance of Town Screens, 5 patches and more later than they should have done. That Ubisoft for some reason expects us to pay 10 euros/8 pounds for what is basically a fan-campaign.

And that has what to do with the graphics? (hint: that's the art direction) . Naki said H6 had better graphics than H5, I was disagreeing with him. Okay so it might have been art direction rather than art quality , but that's neither here nor there really. Still, NWC knew what they were on about, t...

Naki wrote:Nope, better graphics! :D (Not that graphics matter in a TBS game much.)
Since the Haven looks like a bunch of ornamental garden shed, forgive me for disagreeing. Also, Ubisoft wrecked the scale, the hero now looks like a RPG character than the icon of a massive army.

Among other things, yes. Do you have reservations about it apart from potential balance issues? Yes, because while both of them would be able to target creatures as well, they'd do so in completely different ways, the ballista would hit one stack and one stack alone, while the catapult would hit a ...

Cliffs, if you don't have the right amount of cliffs, one side or the other is going to get an upper hand (provided it's not a mirror match). This is especially prevalent with the Zerg in a non-mirror match since they don't have a cliff-jumper/climber unit, while both Terran and Protoss have 2 each.

But even Starcraft, which is properly balanced only on particular maps, keeps the fixed defences quite regular in function, for a game where each faction has to perform more-or-less equally across a variety of terrains (exempting perhaps the faction specifically made for that terrain), then there ha...

In the Heroic design, however, different factions utilise different kinds of siege defences. The Nature town, for example, has walls made from living trees that can regrow during combat. In this instance, a fire-spewing Siphon is a much more effective siege weapon than a Catapult. The Undead town d...
