GameSpot Gives Tribes a 5.5
Why can't I get my Avatar to show up correctly? I am using a *.gif file and it is less than 50x50 pixels and less than 10 kb. What gives?

GameSpot Gives Tribes a 5.5
Sounds like the reviewer didn't have a clue about how to play the early game, i.e.- the first couple of weeks. I'd definitely give it at least a 9. If it ain't a first-person shoot-em up, these idiots just can't connect!

I hope you're right SC... I remember they had a good release with 350,000 copies sold, but then I read a story about budget problems in development and perhaps scrapping the series.

By the way, UBI and Nival may not renew the series, and H5 has not been particularly lucrative for them. Remember, they had to pay for acquisition rights, as well as development and distribution. Who knows if theyll ever sell the rights to another company? We had all better hope that TOTE does well....

TT, "innovation" means something new, while "revolutionary" means characterized by or resulting in change... I did not say H5 was innovative, I said it was the most revolutionary version of Heroes yet. If you dont believe H5 offers "truly varied strategic approaches to victo...

Oh... and the elimination of Mega-Mover Uber Heroes (Town Portal and Dimension Door with max movement skills and arties). This change alone forces true strategy instead of just bouncing around one unbeatable hero who can resupply huge armies and defend any fortress on any turn.

All versions of Heroes have had AI quirks which resulted in similar disadvantages for the computer players. UBI should attempt a fix for this, but Heroes AI has never been intuitive enough to solve every position anomaly the computer heroes encounter. Maybe someday (sigh).

Initiative boost from mini-arties kicks butt! With Titans, Archmages and Gremlins boosted, they can slaughter all ranged attackers immediately and then pick off remaining threats one by one. Add in magic resistance to mini-arties, and maybe hitpoint boost for gremlins and mages, and you have formida...

This is so essential it definitely should have been part of the game. UBI should pay you for this.

I have my computer res set to 1280x1024, the highest res. The Map Editor itself does not have a graphics quality adjustment. Nonetheless, the image does look much more crisp in the Editor than in the screenshot. If you have another solution for a crisper screenshot, let me know.

This is not a photoshop trick. I have been using the Map Editor to create and frame some cool shots of different factions in their native environments. The Editor is much more flexible in the camera angles it allows, and one can create more interesting setups, unbound by considerations about how the...

Oct. 16th is now the release date for TOTE, and YES! H5 is most definitely a true HOMM incarnation! I'm just glad UBI is expanding the artifacts base and including some combo arties. I think TOTE will round out H5 nicely!
