I presume you can only ever become the Classes that are available for that race in the character creation screen anyway? just as an acid test, take off the Cycle of Life rings, then cast Shared Life manually. What you see there should be what you get from Cycle of Life (and if not, that's a question for more deeply involved people) I use the spell manually quite frequently & I'm pretty familiar with the effects. ...

just to verify, how much HP does your heaviest character have vs your lightest one? The closer in HP everyone is, the harder it is to see a difference. Highest is ~1,500, then ~1,100 and three around 550-600. Only the 1,500 and 1,100 have been wearing them so far, so the effect could be in the back...
