Is your PC really old? The system requirements listed on the gamebox was way off, AFAIR.

Is it the surface part or the underground part of the map, that you have trouble accessing?

You should also consider what kind of games you are going to play on this computer. The graphics card is not especially good, so don't expect to play Crysis or something like that with it.

The 8800GT has received excellent reviews, but seems to be in very limited supply at the moment. But if you don't mind waiting, this seems like the best price/performance ratio right now.

As for the original question, choice of compenents really depends on your intended use. Should it be able to play Crysis at decent framerates or just Heroes V?

What about Direct X 10 compliance?
How much do you intend to spend on the thing?
Is noise a factor?
