I'm playing HOMAM IV just now and I'm on the 3rd mission, and there's something that's really annoying me! I've concentrated my monk on magic, and he is now a level 20 (ish) monk. The thing is, I can't get his nature magic beyond basic! Every time I level up it never gives me the option to increase...

I don't remember any problems with this.
Could it be because the artifact is either not equipped or not on one of the heroes that you carry over?

I think you have been enjoying the map too much, and not moved forward fast enough... what day/week/month are you at?

And do you only have one hero in your main army?? At least two, maybe even three should be better.

For the towns that can't afford a full weeks production, these are the ones I wouldn't buy:
Inferno: 2 imps
Conflux: 1 magma elemental
Castle: 26 halbardiers
Tower: 12 Iron golems + 3 obsidian gargoyles

The necro hero has both of the artifacts.
You need to beat him to get them.

If my memory serves me, then Jump as quickspell and running before jumping was key... and of course quite some practice with the timing.

As others said, save first and then start practicing. There really is no hidden trick, just timing.

I don't agree with that. Though I prefer to summon them with spell instead of the skill based summoning, they are quite useful in early combat due to the luck spell - and eating retaliation.

It depends somewhat on what is it, that you want to change.

If you want to allign say red and purple, then it can't be done.
But if you want to allign red and blue against, 1 or more other teams, controlled by the AI, then it should be possible.

I didn't really do anything, but point you in the right direction.
