I've found that Etherealize spell shortens this journey greatly. Magic doesn't work in few squares.

In MM6, it´s possible to use some scrolls more than once. There are: 1) Scrolls with spells that affect one character at Master level, like Cure Wounds or Healing Touch, but not Power. 2) Scrolls with spell that need to choose a target monster at Master level, like Lightning or FireBall, but not Met...

Using WINE, you do use the real videocard, with all it 3D functionality.
Using the Virtual Machine (any) you'll get just an emulation of generic videocard, possibly not supporting Direct 3D.
