will you ever use other archive than 7z ? if difference between 7z & zip will be not so big - we will use zip. but if 7z will compress more effictevly - we will use 7z. 7z is just the same archive and it is freeware. the only problem to download it - right clic - save file as = one more action....

unlod all lod files with autolod
put every new changed files into unloded folders
start a game - game will ask you to create a palette for your new tile - say yes.

do not remember for sure but in mm8, grayface created a patch that denied HWL fules to work and uses LOD instead. maybe in your mm you replaced texture but uses acceleration? if it is so - you won't see any changes at all cause game uses HWL files, not LOD!!!
