Dark Messiah HD Gameplay

Source is an awesome engine, but it's just an engine, not a magic wand that will automatically make your game look beautiful. For an example, see Half-Life 1: Source. Except for water and lighting, it looks and feels exactly the same as the non-Source version.

StarForce: It's Not Over

If they were stupid, they wouldn't be able to create the game, would they? :)

Nival is the sole Heroes V distributor in Russia, and apparently they will only release the Russian version. Even if they do release the English one, it will undoubtably also be StarForced.

StarForce: It's Not Over

Znork, I "car" about Russians. Because I AM a Russian. And I don't want a game with StarForce.

I'm not saying that copy protection is bad, it's like having those white thingies on clothes so they don't get stolen. Correction: "stolen" can only be applied to material things. If you bought a CD with a program and someone took it without your permission, it got stolen. If you bought a...

Alternative Copy Protection Coming

Oh no.

What's the point in dropping Starforce if they still use copy protection? I was against copy protection at all, not Starforce specifically.

I'm destroyed.

I don't like the thought of a possible Deus Ex scenario (Orwell bigbrother extreme) but that's where were heading and you people can't stop it. We can, by boycotting proprietary software. Besides, I don't know whether Vista includes a DRM system (the beta doesn't), but applying it to all programs r...

DRM stands for "digital rights management", or, like the Free Software Foundation calls it, "digital restrictions management". It is bad for us consumers, as it is proven to be fatal, yet it is good to the producers because that means less pirated copies, more money. You mean &qu...

Heroes V 0.8 Preview

It's more than enough. In fact, the game includes a low-detail mode to run smoothly even on the weakest video cards, at the expense of image quality.

New Comics: Double Your Pleasure

I think the new Cranky is going a little too far. Is Starforce sexist? (Because obviously females can't use the described system.)

Of course, I can expect the results, given that I'm posting this on a forum whose users have a generally negative attitude to StarForce. But maybe StarForce is just one particular bad implementation.

Heroes V Release Dates Announced

The UK Ubisoft site now has the Heroes V release date listed as May 19, 2006. Information on the US site is more vague, giving the date simply as May 2006. If...

Ubisoft and Nival Cease Partnership

Sorry for not providing a fake interview, I've already written a fake article today (for Wookieepedia, a Star Wars encyclopedia, http://starwars.wikia.com) and this news entry, so I didn't feel like writing the interview... Besides, it would be hard to imitate Fabrice's style :).

Ubisoft and Nival Cease Partnership

In an unexpected turn of events, the Ubisoft official site announced that Ubisoft and Nival Interactive broke their Heroes V development contract. As Fabrice Cambounet explained in an interview to Cel...
