Re: Tech Corner

I found decryption for the virus at this site: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/free-decrypter-available-for-the-latest-gandcrab-ransomware-versions/ After scanning with the tool, all the files are working again. However, I did not back up all my files before resetting my PC, but I did...

Re: Tech Corner

I'm not sure which version I have and don't care at the moment to research it more. After I got virus, I ran Malaware Bytes scan, then removed all quarantined files it found. After that, I did "Reset this PC" in Windows Settings which deleted every file on my SSD and HD. I presume that got...

Re: Tech Corner

No, I was not there, but I did go to site below and it said that there was currently no decryption for the file I uploaded. I did copy some of my decrypted files to a flash drive in case it might be possible to decrypt them in the future, but I'm not getting my hopes up. https://id-ransomware.malwar...

Re: Tech Corner

I got this virus on PC: http://www.computips.org/remove-gandcrab-v5-0-recover-encrypted-files/ Well, time to kiss my life's work goodbye with a system reset. It does feel strange having your past erased like that. I did backup some things, but the thousands of documents I've written and pictures I'v...

Re: Tech Corner

You listed two earlier. I would choose one of these and what else would I need?

Re: Tech Corner

I didn't visit store again since I'm not sure if I have problem or not and first time I went there didn't help. In retrospect, I think I made wrong choice of GPU. It can not run games at my monitors native resolution with perfect performance and fans going really crazy. At lower resolutions, it play...

Re: Tech Corner

The AMD System tab says Adrenalin 18.8.1.

I'm not sure if there are any Power Color drivers installed or not. There's nothing in control panel indicating that there is.

Re: Tech Corner

Here's something I learned. When change the option settings to Windowed mode where I can't control game resolution. The GPU performance in Task Manager tab is around 25% and the fans don't get that loud. When I select Full Screen mode, then I ALT + Escape to see the GPU performance in task manager, ...

Re: Tech Corner

The temperature has usually stayed around 55 degrees C, it's just that it is super noisy. After enabling "Chill" option, it still gets loud, but maybe not as quickly as before. Temperature was around 55 degrees C on chill mode too. PC is several inches from wall. How can you be sure suffic...

Re: Tech Corner

Yes, that is screenshot of guacamelee 2 options menu.

I don't use gaming profiles.

As soon as I run the game, in less than 5 minutes, the gpu fan goes more than 3000 rpm and it is so loud (like a blow dryer) that it makes me not want to play. I'm actually regretting upgrading my PC. :disagree:

Re: Tech Corner

For the bios, I don't play around with that because I don't know what I'm doing.

Should my PC be working hard (or at least sounds like it) to run a game like this? Here are the settings I'm running it on.

Re: Tech Corner

Video card is loudest source of sound when playing the game and after that, probably CPU. PSU makes a humming/buzzing sound that's distinct, but not as loud as the other two. I can also hear a throttling sound (revs up and down) all the time (even not playing games) but I can't see the source. I can...

Re: Tech Corner

I would suggest to return to the idea of homemade stethoscope and collect more details about that noise. To narrow it, before thinking about fixing that. I'm playing a game: Guacamelee 2 with the following listed system requirements: OS: Windows 10, 8, 7 Processor: 2 Ghz+ Memory: 1 GB RAM Graphics:...

H7 Mods

I was curious if anyone has used these mods and how significantly it changes H7 (is it still a weak game or is it high quality)?

Re: Tech Corner

They did some stress tests with a USB and found nothing unusual. To me it seemed quieter at store than in my home. I'm just going to accept this is how it's supposed to sound. :canthear: :libra:

Re: Tech Corner

When I first turn on my PC, temperature is around 35-40 Celsius. When I play that game, highest I've seen it go is around 75-80. Noise is heard at any temperature (more loudly at higher temp). That's why I'm not sure if the problem is even temperature related. Here is my board: http://www.microcente...

Re: Tech Corner

I ran my PC with the case off and I don't believe the sound is coming from the case fan, GPU fan, or the CPU fan. I don't believe the sound is coming from the hard drive or the solid state drive. I can't precisely isolate the source. It might be from the CPU (behind the CPU fan, closer to the mother...
