I'm no graphics expert, but I think this is beautifully rendered. The vanishing at the bottom, the glowing eyes, and excellently modeled fingers and hands.

I'm okay with the Academy being a bit surreal. The architecture is still very orderly.

I can confirm that the original version did not stack +skill equipment but rather gave you the highest bonus.

I love reading JVC interviews, even though they make my heart ache with nostalgia. Sigh, sigh, if only 3DO had sold NWC as a single entity.

On one hand, "Danse Macabre" is a cool name and a cooler song. On the other, the Gold Edition reeks of 3DO-style repackaging.

Interesting thought, but I think HoMMIII's graphics have stood the test of time extremely well. I'd rather game developers work on recapturing the magic of that title in new ways than rehash a classic that, in my opinion, doesn't need it.

I love that sword in MMVII.

Hey, I'm 25! The HIII box had that huge manual, but Armageddon's Blade came in an equally large box without any of the bells and whistles. The HIV box managed to fit everything in a more economical box.

I never understood why computer games used to come in those massive boxes.

I appreciated the expanded Antagarich mythos, but that's about it...

I found Irina's pronunciation, especially of the word "wound," to be charming.

I don't think the art looks overly anime inspired.

The color palette is pretty plain, but I'm okay with a plain, clean look here. And who said angels can only have two wings? Seraphim have six, and Cherubim have four. (The Bible says nothing about angels having wings anyway, so it's not like there's some real life cannon material they're violating.)

The writer for the web comic Penny Arcade had some nice things to say about it halfway down his first post last Friday.

Give some credit, though: hating it because it isn't made by NWC is pretty reasonable. Those were better, simpler times.
