I looked at the original game, the script works well. Based on the information in the file (mmmerge.T.lod/Placemon.txt), we can say that the captains NameId's remained 4-5-6 (like in the original game). These numbers are also visible through the editor. Well, Im at master, and increment, as you can see is 22-23exp per learning lever. Out of points to test further. Just checked the code, it seems actually not to be any code related to a cap, so maybe it was some misinformation from MM7-8 Glad to see that this is still going strong even after I left...

Is there any way to upscale resolution or graphics? Quite pixelated. And how to activate true nightmare? You can download the upscale mod from GrayFace, but it's not as good as mmmerge. We finished our gameplay and was an amazing experience!
Latest release seems to be working good and there wasn't any game-breaking bugs.
Looking forward for another gameplay next year!
