That chest gave me an OP Spear, like Triton's or whatever, +70 water res, -70 fire res and water breath, so I guess it's a Relic since those always had something negative to deal with, but are even to more powerful (at least in original MM7). I've seen this happen with bad installs. What are the patches you are mentioning? It should be - Install gog, copy merge, get merge update. It has GrayFace's patch already included, albeit not the newest version (which you can do as a last step!), but that alone should get it working. As the raekuu...
