noob custom icon question. Please help

Unread postby tumorbane » 12 May 2007, 21:35

Made my share of HIII maps, but just now trying HV ones....

When I want to put in custom icons for heros, it needs .tgt file (I can do that) but I get an error saying that "texture format needs to be 128 X 128 X 32." What does this mean and how do I do that? I use adobe photoshop. thanks.

It's saying that picture should be having format 32x32 pixels (weidth x high) in 32bits colour depth.

It can be also just 32 colours, from the context it not seems to be fully clear. But for the textures it would give more sense. Else saving in 32bits depth is possible somehow through CMYK or HDR images. No met with that need before so no idea how to - currently.

32 bit is just RGBA - Red, Green, Blue and Alpha. You just need an alpha channel (for transparency). Go to Window->Channels and press the Create Channel button. You should have a new channel named Alpha 1.
Now, in that channel, Black means completely transparent and White means opaque. The values in between (grey colors) mean some transparency (a darker grey is more transparent than a whiter grey, etc). If you don't want transparency, fill this channel with White.
Hide, listen, watch, learn… And when the time is right, strike from the shadow.
