The Streets of Al-Safir

Unread postby El Chita » 10 Aug 2009, 20:02

Hi all Image

I want to present you a new type of a H5-Map on which I am working right now. It's called "The Streets of Al-Safir" and it is a Town-Map, that means that the whole map is one big town. An Academytown, to be specific.

Dark Forces managed to get into the capital city of the Silver Cities, Al-Safir, and are going to attack the arcane library, where all knowledge of the Silver Leage is hided. This knowledge mighty, and it must not fall into the wrong hands. The wizards themselfes try to force back the enemy, assistet by the warriors of the Holy Griffin Empire, but how long can they hold out ?

There will be 4 partys, the Nekromancers, the Demons, the Wizards and the Knights. According to the factions, all spells of all 4 schools of Magic are reachable in the middle of the map, guarded by strong monsters, of course.
Two versions will come out, one is allied, one is not.

Oh, and sry for my bad english, it' not my native language :)

Screens:

The whole map/town:

The raksha temple:

Here you can see the rings of the Academy Town, they will move in the game:

Heroes can move on the different isles:

The cloud temple is also walkable:

Grok at the stairs of the palace:

Some "bird" pictures. Right now, they are working very badly, but I hope I can fix that:

I'm also trying to add clouds, it's a slow progress, but it works:

It does look really nice. If I find a friend with a computer that can run H5, I'll think I'll kidnap it just to try this out :)

Thx guys, but still, the map isn't done ;)
Right now, I am working on very boring things like polishing the terrain, finishing borders and so on.
Holy grail, just how did you do it?
Oh, long story :D
It took a while, I still don't know all mysteries of the H5-Map-Editor.

I used the Haven-Town-Ambient-Light, just because it's the best for a golden town. I also used this point lights trick somebody was posting here, in orange, of course.

Have you tried to play it yet? Cause Huge maps with arena objects (especially with a lot of arena objects, like in your case) crash very often and make broken saves all the time.

No, I tested it a couple times and everything worked fine.
The town itself is not the problem, but even the clouds. They make the computer very slow when there are too much of them...

Really awesome, dude! Did you used the ingame models or tried the Maya method in order to insert your own static buildings? Anyway, congrats for the screenies, really awesome too. I'll keep an eye to this topic, maybe I could translate this map to spanish in the future ;)

I don't know of a Maya method, so I think I used the ingame models ^^

Wow, the map isn't done yet and someone wants to translate it...
Ok, go ahead, your're welcome :D

Well, but the thing I really dislike is that hardly no-one seems to find this thread. I mean, 157 Views, that is, according to the date I started this thread, disappointing.

I really should post it on HeroesCommunity, too.

Yes :D

No, I mean, after you did a thing and you really enjoy what you did, and hardly noone seems to like it, you start to ask yourself for whom you are doing it.

And you can't tell me you never had that feeling that you did a fantastic thing of which you believe noone did it before. You even want to share your knowledge with others, it feels like your head is exploding. [/b]

Yeah that's true. But so far you have only positive responses, so I believe you should really concentrate on finishing it! I think everyone will agree!

I'm positive if you finish this up, it would become front page news. I mean, other maps and mods with tons of effort have been as well.

Well, today, I was working on this:

Image

It's the starting point of the demons. The texture of the clouds down there will be changed again, but in the whole, it's done.
