Map size (H3)

Unread postby CurseUppl » 07 Aug 2009, 15:18

Hey.

I've been playing Heroes 3 Shadow of Death for years now and I've always wondered if it's possible to make maps that are larger than 144 x 144. I've trawled the internet for a few hours now without much result.

Is there a mod or something that can overwrite the sizes of maps so I could have, say, a 1000 x 1000 map. I'm a pretty experienced user so shouldn't be a problem if there is a way to do such.

Reason why I want this? I always thought it would be epic just creating an ungodly large map that would take months if not years to cross.

Thanks for any help!

There is a way and apart from the fact that it could be having problem with rendering minimap it works. In certain circumstances.

Now I'm not so sure where you will receive that tool. Can you simple start downloading WoG 3.58f, then patch it with Map Editor Patch and looks if it's been incorporated?

If not, there is somewhere flying that utility itself but it does work and it doesn't. I assume that here will something like the latest version, quite likely in russian and out of stretch of my reach/knowledge.

Okay I downloaded WoG but the map editor patch is giving me a 404 error 8|

Any other place I can find it? Google isn't giving me anything concrete.

I tried downloading this:

http://narod.yandex.ru/100.xhtml?bournw ... chmaps.zip

But I can't seem to get it to work, let alone can I understand what is written lol.

Also, I can't find a copy of the map editor patch 3.3 anywhere! The WoG site has a broken link so I can't download it :(

Did you download and try this map:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0IG60LOV

It's XXL... Mostly empty but playable... Not sure how you would edit it, because the Editor doesn't support the format (at least my Editor doesn't).

Btw, it's a WoG map.

Hmm, ok. It's broken I will try to take a look on this later. I'm not sure if I will find Perfect0 though. (WoG site admin)

Meanwhile, there are at least two versions of program for creating a really big maps (over 144x144) but it will work only in the patched editor I think and I don't know which version of mappatched is the latest (and if it's compatible).

I will try to sort it out and post you a links here, likely tomorrow.

I have no idea why the files were disabled, if it was on purpose or a mere mistake but I re-enabled them. So, now you can go to wog page and download them.

I haven't time to try them, however map editor patch should be having this function already included. As is having included ObjectEd (which I like more to use as a separated program.)

Also you may go here. This is simple collection of useful tools for h3maparchives site. ;)

If you wouldn't be able to find where to download WoG just told me, I have rightful suspicion that is placed on celestialheavens multiple times, so getting a link should be easy. ;) (Seems we have some unused "deep cavernas" here)

Hmm, this is the same thing which I have in my collection but bigger, looking at it mine is having just and exactly 4kB - the archive integrity is ok however. May be I will add this one too.

If you will ask me what is the best update after the WoG itself, then it's a stereo fix. :D

Somebody please explain me how to use the content of this archive?

EDIT: Ahh, just extract it to main H3 folder and replace custom map size with new one :).
