Which upgrade system is your favourite?
Mine is definitely the HoMM IV system, I love having to choose.
HoMM V: TotE is close behind.

You mean HoMM V: TotE, right?darknessfood wrote:Heroes V, goes more deeply and that way you can get a more diverse army...
I think freedom to choose would best describe HoMM V: TotE, since after you've chosen a dwelling in HoMM IV, there's no going back.BrennusWhiskey wrote:H4, freedom to choose is the best!

Heroes II -- it helps add to faction diversity. Unlike UHO, however, I think removing the penalty on upgrading already purchased creatures was one of the worst decisions ever made -- I like having to choose whether to buy something now or wait until I build the upgraded structure.
Second favorite in the HoMM IV system. It adds strategy. You have to have some vague notion of how your choice will help you down the road, and must make tradeoffs.
I would like the TotE system if there was no option to retrain.
The HoMM III system is extremely boring -- I find it even more boring than the H1 system!

That first part is just nitpicking, it may not make sense or the developers may just be really sexist, but in the end, why should you be bothered by something so insignificant?MistWeaver wrote:Making boys from girls or transforming creatures into really different ones is meh..
Which creatures are transformed into really different ones? Off the top of my head, I can think of zero examples.

Nah, genies are genderless and can change their appearance at will. They just don't want you ordering them to their deaths when they don't have Master training, so they change appearance to reflect their toughness.UndeadHalfOrc wrote:To be fair though, H3 did this first ... Voted: Heroes 4 Upgrade System but Heroes 3 was a close second. At first, when H4 was released, I loathed having to choose between two different creatures but now I really like it, so much so that I voted for it.
Methinks this was just an oversight by New World Computing.UndeadHalfOrc wrote:To be fair though, H3 did this first ... Genies ==> Master GeniesMistWeaver wrote:H5 - . Making boys from girls

You catch me I just love H4.Metathron wrote:Well, you may think it's stupid, but it still offers the most freedom.
And have you actually played TotE? There's no going back to "basic form", only re-upgrading to the alternative upgrade for a small price.
I tried TOTE but is borring. All things are worst.

H4's is the one i liked best... but preferably with some option to replace them for some cash... as it was way annoying to capture a town with the opposite building in it...

Yeah, that was the thing i hated. Most of the time when you captured a town, you have to choose which tier of monster you want, and that messes up your tactics...ThunderTitan wrote:H4's is the one i liked best... but preferably with some option to replace them for some cash... as it was way annoying to capture a town with the opposite building in it...
You can either agree with me, or be wrong...
