Heroes 3: music quality

Unread postby SpinalBlood » 01 Jun 2008, 14:16

Hi, I always wondered about this thing

I have Homm3 music as mp3 files in one of the subfolders (well everyone has I guess), which I enjoying listening to sometimes

But I noticed the quality is far superior than when they are sounded inside the game. The mp3 info says the quality is 44100 hz, but I can tell the difference between the mp3 player and inside the game; in the game it sounds like if it is 22050 hz quality or similar, it's more obvious for example on the knight castle theme, when the bells sound

It's the same when I played Homm3 base years ago on Windows 98 and now with Windows XP and Homm3 Complete edition

Is there some way to increase the ingame music quality?

Yes, follow Pol's link. I have tried the patch myself - the sound is FABULOUS now. The inferno music finally sounds awesome with proper stereo, and MP3 which previously wouldn't play in H3 now work fine.
