HoMM debates

Unread postby Metathron » 12 May 2008, 20:13

What do you guys think of having HoMM-based debates?

The host would come up with a topic, for example (off the top of my head) "HoMM III - The wyvern is more important to the Fortress than the cyclops to the Stronghold".

Then members who showed interest would sign up, the number of debaters on each side would be unimportant, as long as it's the same on both sides, so 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2,...

The debate would last for a limited period of time, say a week, after which time a number of judges (recruited by the host) would deliver their verdicts. Each of them would have 100 points at their disposal and would divide them among the two teams, according to which team they found to be the most convincing in their arguments, NOT which side the judge personally agrees with more.

I think this could prove to be a lot of fun, what do the rest of you think?

But I am too tired (you can thank the fact that I wrote 9 pages of text in 2.5 hours) to become Plaut or some other Greek philosopher so I'll just give up and wish you luck for this does seem liek a good idea,

Sounds like fun. Although maybe not the specific example -- I've played very little H3 in the last several years.

Might be interesting. I'm in, although I haven't played IV or V at all (yet).

Yeah me too. There are few games that are this much fun to debate over.
