Barbarian hero evolution
I'd like to start by pointing out to people who don't already know, that for Heroes 3, in-battle hero appearances are not determined by class, but by gender. A male cleric or knight will always appear as a male knight, and a female cleric or knight will always appear as a female cleric. Same with female barbarian and male battle mage. In the adventure screen, look at your barbarian carefully and you'll notice that it's the same as the in-battle female barbarian .
BUT, since so many important campaign heroes are male barbarians, (who use the battle mage sprite) and battle mage won't appear anywhere else (there won't be a battle mage evolution), and battle mages are described by game makers as barbarians who have started to learn using magic, I decided to include him here.
H1 Barbarian. No movement penalty on rough terrain. (Expert Pathfinding)
H2 Barbarian. Starts with Advanced Pathfinding.
H3 Barbarian (there is only a female sprite and it is used for female battle mages as well)
H3 Battle Mage (there is only a male sprite, and is used for male barbarians as well)
H4 Barbarian (male)
H4 Barbarian (female)
H5 Barbarian
As for my vote, mmmm... gotta love those bikinis... hesitating between H3 female and H4 female

Uhh, this was a tough one...but for apperances only I went with H3 Barbarian. She looks great I must say I would've gone with H5 cause it's really got the whole package but H3 seems more fun, less serious.
This minor magical charm captures the viewer's attention and distra... ooo, pretty...

voted h3 male.
I realy wonder how h5 male barb got so high. I think its one of worst models ingame. Well model itself isnt that bad but his animation is awful. Its nowhere as smooth as vampire (altough i dislike 19century dracula style in fantasy game). Position they have legs for barb they look like in combat pose but when they move it stays that way and you could think he still have saddle on him.

Maybe a wire-brush would have better effect.HodgePodge wrote:In any case, he sure could use a toothbrush.

Yeah, I'd have to go with the H2 general too. The rest just look...off...and I still don't care much for the H5 "each faction is a different race" thing that's really obvious in the design for the barb model there.

You're obviously not racist enough... everyone knows that having different races hanging out instead of trying to off each other is ludicrous.

I'm be gonna be a wee bit sexist and go with the H3 Battle Mage here. That bikini thing doesn't make sense, but it's cool, and that helmet is just smashing.
I maintain nonetheless that yin-yang dualism can be overcome. With sufficient enlightenment we can give substance to any distinction: mind without body, north without south, pleasure without pain. Remember, enlightenment is a function of willpower, not of physical strength.
