My favorite music in Heroes III is the Good Theme. Sometimes, I let it play over and over again before I begin the scenario. I think the melody is so beautiful. :)

Eh, that would be Necropolis for me. But frankly for some long time I really preffer to having game muted and playing 'custom' tunes.

Necropolis has one of the better themes, especially towards the end. My favourite is Rampart, however. Listening to it while watching the animated dragon cliffs and the whole forest backdrop has a really soothing effect.

I agree with HP that the Good theme is pretty good, though this is only about the town themes.

There's one in the Mp3 folder called NeutralTheme. I really like that one, it's got a very mysterious and almost tragic sound to it. I also like Campaign Music 6, it sounds... wizardly.

As for town themes, my three favourites are Stronghold, Rampart and Conflux, in that order.

Many of the campaign themes were for some reason, unused due to developers oversight. In my H3 mod I corrected this.
NeutralTheme is the one that's supposed to play in the "SPOILS OF WAR" original RoE campaign. EvilTheme is supposed to play in the Inferno/Dungeon and Necromancer campaigns.

IMHO, the BEST campaign song is the unused one for the Armageddon't Blade campaign: BladeABCampaign.mp3.

That goes for all of the AB campaign themes (only "Foolhardy Waywardness" played correctly before I fixed it). Adrienne's theme (BladePFCampaign.mp3) is killer, too.

It's a crime that most people never got to hear those awesome Armageddon's Blade themes.

I have my suspicions that BladeABCampaign.mp3 was the Forge town theme tune, probably later changed after the scrapping to be the campaign theme tune, and then forgotten. Maybe. Oh and Sandro's theme from Rise of the Necromancer (Campaign Music 11) also rules.

You're right, Sandro's theme rules, but I also like CampaignMusic10, look at the file date, it's the same as 11, but it's unused. It's long and epic, so I assume it was to be the "Unholy Alliance" theme, so I fixed my game to do so.

Corlagon, I like your Forge theory about the song, especially since it's dark and foreboding, yet epic at the same time.

Anyway just to make sure everyone reads it:

Everybody, listen to
BladeABCampaign.mp3 !!! It's in the MP3 folder and it rules!

Necropolis would be my choice of those here. EvilTheme is the one I prefer.

Stronghold. B-)

My least favourite themes are Inferno and Castle, because they're somewhat boring and repetitive. The other themes are great, though.

I loved the Inferno theme. I thought it fit those demonic nasties just perfectly.

Perhaps, but I didn't ask you for your overall favorite theme, did I?

Fortress
The only town theme that still puts me to listen. It is compact, epic and has some inner development.
Many of the campaign themes were for some reason, unused due to developers oversight. In my H3 mod I corrected this.
Is it a downloadable mod or did you changed the themes manually? If so, could you explain how to do this and what would be the list of the themes that ought to be changed.

Simple really. I used the old, (but still godly) ModHOMM.exe to extract the campaign files (H3C), edited the campaigns to make them use the correct MP3, then reisinserted them into H3Bitmap.lod
