The HoMM II sorceress town theme (opera) is the best town theme ever, and one of the best overall (rivalled by some HoMM II & IV adventure map themes).

Uh....

The topic creator didn't specify if he meant Expansion or Original?

For instance the original knight town theme rules (opera), but the expansion one is boring (just piano, slow, boring)

Warlock was best to me if my memory is correct.

My problem is that my copy of H2 gold doesn't want to play opera properly :(

Sorceress, without a doubt. I'm absolutely shocked that the Necro theme got any votes, much less two.

Honorable mentions go to Wizard and Knight.

Of course, if you ask about the best composition in all of H2, the Grass theme bests Sorceress.

I've got them all on my ipod, and I'd have to say that H2 has the best music IMO. I'll vote for Sorceress, but the rest are really good too.

Yes, it's surprising to me because I consider Necromancer and Warlock to be the top contenders for the worst of the H2 town themes, as measured by my desire to listen to them outside the game. And by worst, I mean least-great.

If by "main theme," you mean "title screen theme," I'd personally put that at fourth, behind Grass, Sorceress, and Snow.
