King's Bounty, though it already was '95. The reason is - my PC wasn't powerfull enough to run modern games. And when I got new PC, I already could start with H2, so I kinda missed H1.

In this order:

Heroes III (Best game ever made)
Heroes II (needed to know who Roland Ironfist was)
Heroes Chronicles (Played for the hell of it, stayed for the story)
Heroes IV (Great campaigns, inferior gameplay, though I didn't really notice / care)
Heroes I (Got this with Heroes Platinum Edition, nice but dated)
Heroes V (Great... apart from the one essential part I enjoy most, the campaigns)

My parents bought H1 back when it was new (and we'd just recently splurged on a brand spanking new Windows based computer with a CD-ROM drive!!) and we all ended up having a blast playing hotseat games together.

First game I played was Homm 1. I was a wee lad when my father purchases it. I remember the day well because of the irony of it all. I was pissy my dad was buying it because I wanted him to save his money to buy me Warcraft II when it came out. Obviously looking back on it, the purchase of Heroes I changed my life, now I'm an addict.

I started with Heroes 2 Gold. I got it when I was like 8. I LOVED it. A few years later I got Heroes III.

I got all 3 in a combo pack, and started out with Heroes 1, then tried 2, then went to 3 and got hooked. That was probably in the first hour. Now that I would like to go back and try 1 and 2, I can't get them to load on this computer.

Three is still my all time favorite, especially with WoG.

Heroes 2. My friend introduced me to it.

I was at a Boarding school back then and my room was always full of ppl ditching classes and playing on my friend's comp. Damn it was hilarious.

We all hated the guy with the Titans though

lots of memories...

Played Heroes I briefly to get familiar with the basics and then moved on to the more interesting Heroes II campaigns. One year later, more or less, Heroes III came out.

Yup. Same Here. Started out with H1 in '96 on a whopping 1 GiG Hard Drive PC! Then, on to H2. Played that fanatically. And was introduced to the Astral Wizard site where I really got hooked. Then on to H3 and totally abused the playing of it. WoG was next and to operate surgically on a game was something cool to do. I've played H4 more recently, along with Equilibris. But I find myself still going back to my roots of the HoMM series all the time. Of all different kinds of games I have they are still the funnest to play.

My first heroes was Heroes 2 The Succession Wars, It was bought by my old brother when I had 6 years. One of the better old games I've played in my life, I still have with the 120-pages manual but the graphics don't install correctly... :(

hah haa... well my first experience was H3 something like 10 years ago i was played before mostly warcraft, c&c well anyways...
i was lying beanbag chair in my friends room and watching him play hotseat with his bro, i was laughing like what the hell are you guys playing that just got to be shittyest game what i ever seen xD running around whit that tiny horse.
After while my friend was like well... wanna try lets play hotseat and that day hasent still come to end :) i remember that first i was having some problems get used to that 1 can be many my friend was saying attack with those! i was like what those i see only one creature on screen xD
but yes heroes 3 is definitely one of my favorites games its like boardgame with bit chess element. speaking of boardgame i recommend try out Abalone its simple marble game but very fun to play summertime in park with few beers :)

I started with Heroes II back in '98. Then, a year later, Heroes III came out, so I switched, and it's been on my hard drive ever since. :)

I started with HoMM3, and I remember being puzzled about one sprite showing an army as well. Back then I tended to call them "lives" for logic sakes :)

That doesn't change the facts, now does it?
