Heroes IV Running without DVD disc??

Unread postby Orfinn » 15 Jan 2006, 18:36

Ok! Whats up with H4 Complete? Its a very good thing I can run it without a disc (DVD) in the drive, but how is it possible? I thought no matter if a game is in DVD or CD format you need the disc in the drive for playing it.
Im a bit confused 8|

He complains because he is confused, he will stop later until regains his composure.

Maybe they didn't bother with copy protection since the game is fairly old. I hope customers will appreciate it, because it does happen very often these days.

I have the old "not-complete" cd version of th game and it still doesn't ask for it. (Well with the patches at least)

Yeah, playing without the CD in the drive is just another great advantage of playing Heroes 4 with Equilibris. :-D

As long as you own the original CD it is. Well in most parts of the world anyway.

So does anyone have all the exps (non DVD) and it works without the CD in the drive?

Whenever you get Equilibris for H4 or WoG for H3 running, you do not need a CD in drive anymore. It is not often said loudly since this would make them sound as lame no-CD cracks instead of game improving expansion packs.

But without them you will still need the CD? Even with WoW, right?

Why are they lame when they can speed up your game in some cases and prolonge the life of both your cd and cd rom?

maybe he was just referring to the fact that they are much much more than just no-cd cracks. even if I really appreciate that perk about the mods.

sometimes I find myself playing wog with all wog options off, just so I won't have to put the disc in.
