All other mummies were made by way different tehniques, so they would look way different.

Right, and everybody knows that egyptians were living in a snowy country as shown on the H5 mummy picture

Techniques weren't that different, the base is the same and the result is always a desiccated dead guy, most of the times covered with a few rags. And on that aspect, the H4 mummy is much more neutral.

Mummy pics in a mummy thread!? Are you crazy?

Yeah, Lenin's mummy's a bit different. Anyway Egyptian mummies don't even look like H3 and H5 mummies in reality, the Egyptian stuff they added on them is there to give them an Egyptian appearance and that's completely out of context in the game as soon as they aren't in a desert or a museum (and since there isn't any museum in the game, they only fit to deserts). :tonguehands:

H5 version has a useless green loincloth, H3 version's scepter has a wierd and curly bottom like a corkscrew... H2 and 4 left, didn't want to vote like the majority, so went for the H4 version. I guess it's reasonably scary.

So, just because Magis wears turbans, they can only be used in a desert setting as well? :|

No, turbans are also used in India for example. So Magi can safely live in the jungle.

Even though I love the H2 Royal Mummy, I voted for the H4 Mummy to make this poll more interesting (hopefully). I like its walking animation, its sounds, and its portrait.

Whats the big deal about egiptian stuff and the turbans? Those are earth names for objects used in earth cultures.Ashan could very well have hydras wearing turbans and you couldnt say that it doesnt fit.

What TLD said, and that's my point, creatures are better when they can fit on most terrains, not necessarily all of them, but not only one either.

I'd add that I wrote mummies wouldn't "fit" on other terrains, not that they couldn't be used there at all.

But a culture is related to its environment, and there's no reason to have humans on ashan either if you really want to remove references from earth.

And there's nothing about the Mummy that says it has to be in the desert (except that you think it "looks egyptian"). Then it's worse that f.ex. gremlins go around in fur coats.

I don't "think" it looks egyptian, it was made to look egyptian, that's a huge difference.

It's a game made for humans and it contains memes proper to human mentality.

"Mummies come from Egypt" is the meme in this case. The designers could have very well taken Andean mummies as models, but it wouldn't have been as well known.

Right, but they could also take elements of what is common to most mummies, consider the history and cultural elements of the universe they created and design something out of that.

Then why did they bother to make a new geography and new story? Why not say "On earth,a long time ago...".Its far easier to believe that they slacked at the cultural elements because they found those less important that the *yawn* dragon gods :disagree:
