Skill rankings in H3

Unread postby kitcat0 » 13 Nov 2006, 17:47

Since there are many topics about secondary skills, I was thinking of making one that covers it all. Please give numbers to all secondary skills after their usefulness in your opinion.

5 - a "must have" skill
4- a very nice skill to have
3 - can be nice skill depending on map, alignement and other factors, but not always useful
2- I dont want to get that skill, but I am not going to cry if I am stuck with it
1- utterly useless, at least on main hero

And to remind everybody of what skills there are: wisdom, air magic, earth magic, fire magic, water magic, mysticism, intelligence, sorcery, scholar, learning, first aid, artillery, archery, scouting, offence, armorer, ballistics, diplomacy, resistance, tactics, necromancy, luck, leadership, pathfinding, navigation, logistics, eagle eye, estates.

Ok, I will write down my preferences

5- wisdom, earth magic, logistics, air magic, intelligence
4 - water magic, fire magic, offence
3 - tactics, pathfinding, ballistics, necromancy, navigation, diplomacy, archery, resistance
2 - sorcery, armorer, artillery, scouting, luck, leadership
1 - first aid, estates, eagle eye, mysticism, scholar, learning (gets my vote for most useless skill)

5: Logistics, Earth Magic, Wisdom (in that order of "must-have")

4: Air Magic, Water Magic, Armorer, Offence, Luck, Leadership, Archery

3: Intelligence, Fire Magic, Diplomacy, Sorcery, Pathfinding, Tactics (I reckon others will rank it higher, I've never been a large fan of it)

2: Ballistics, First Aid, Artillery, Resistance, Learning, Mysticism, Scouting

1: Scholar, Eagle Eye, Navigation, Estates

I didn't see the point of sticking Necromancy in there. It's a no-brainer for a necromancer, but irrelevant for the rest.
Jesus saves, Allah forgives, Cthulhu thinks you'd make a nice sandwich.

I prefer to have all of them.
(H3 WoG, Unlimited skills option)

5 earth magic, wisdom, air magic (If Ddoor enabled), pathfinding, water magic
4 Fire magic, logistics (or navigation, depending on map), armorer, offense,
Others depending on WoG settings.

My reasons: earth-wisdom-air: mass slow and others, Town portal&Ddoor, meteor shower.
water: mass cure/dispell .., exp. teleport. Fire: arma, berserk, blind, mass *.*
Pathfinding usually has more influence on map speed, than logistics.
(except log specialists)

This is also my list, only maybe diplomacy could get 4. :)
