Which spelling do YOU prefer. Imagine me as an old man with a funny hat pointing my finger at you.

This is only about the spelling, so no voting based on this pics here:

I just thought they'd be cool to look at.

Edit: Looks like you can edit the poll now. Or is it cause no one voted yet?

Well... Now that I think of it, Solymr only sounds good if you interpret that "y" as a sign that the "l" is palatalized and not read it as a separate sound (palatalized: like the Hungarian ly or Portuguese lh; also somewhat similar to Romanian li in plurals such as moli, poli etc.). In this case, I like the way it sounds, Solymr ibn Wali Barad.

However, I also like Solmyr because it's easier to pronounce and has a pleasant melodicity, IMO.

So I'll go for both.

I prefer Solmyr, because Solymr (btw, I hadn't even noticed that was the way it was spelled in HoMM 4) is something of a tongue twister, what with the r preceded by an m.

If this were about Solmyr's portraits, I'd have voted for #4, even though #3 is quite nice as well.

That depends on how it's pronounced. Now if only i could find where the name comes from.

Maybe Solmyr is the english spelling of the name. I really want to know. Anyone around here ever ask the NWC guy about it?

Vote: The Heroes 3 way.

Somehow from the first time I saw Solymr, I've thought of it as a spelling mistake by NWC.

I prefer Solmyr. I always assumed Solymr was just a mispelling.

Voted: BOTH!

You wanna explanation? Okay, here ya' go!

Are they the same? are they different? Not only is the SPELLING of their name different but their SPECIALIY SPELL is different too.

I was kinda confused when Heroes 4 came out with Solymr on the scene … with no CHAIN LIGNTNING spell. What happened? Did his travel through the portal to the new world cause his specialty to be lost? Err … I think not. So maybe the Heroes 4 Solymr is not the same genie as the Heroes 3 Solmyr … but then again, maybe he is.

But then on the other hand, the Heroes 4 Solymr has more character and is much more sensitive than the Heroes 3 Solmyr. His undying chivalry and devotion to Queen Emila Nighthaven; and his loyalty to the Light Path have made me grow quite fond of the Solymr of Heroes 4.

Wait a minute, I getting quite confused … :| … I like them both! So goes my vote. It's too bad that Solymr-Solmyr wasn't included in Heroes 5 … maybe that would have given us long time fans a connection with the history and love of the game.

A thought occurs:Since genies have been known to change their sex,do they still need two individuals to procreate(like slugs)or is one enough? Is wali barad solmyrs father or both father and mother?
