Nah... In fact they remind me of a caramel mage and a lacrise mage, if you see what I mean. Always thought the H5 creatures looks some kind of candy. Who want a obsidian clad chocolate Titan? Or a tutti frutti raksasha :-D :yummy:

The Heroes 2 Archmage is just hands down, one of the best unit in the game, and he looks wise and powerful, so they definitely get my vote.

Great to use with Titan as well. You get two very fast shooters, and the Titan will draw fire away from the fragile Archmage stack.

I like how the H5 archmage is arrogant and flaunts his wealth and power. He's less of a Gandalf-like Superman than the ones in 2 and 3.
He might not be tall and mighty-looking, but he doesn't let that bother himself.

Heroes 4 is just bland.
"Yes, but what about David Beckham and the magic mushroom?"

I'm baaaaaack!

Voted H2 Archmage, nice robe.

What is with H5 and making every single unit's eyes glow fluorescent?

I'll go with the H2 archmage. The robe change is very nice and I like the beard there better than the other options.

Dunno why I like the H2 Mage the most. I think in red it looks ways better than the grey one.

Voted for Archmage from Heroes III.

Why? You just got to love that fancy looking outfit of his.
Younger Mages simply don't have enough character.
Ah, and yes, that glowing staff is legendary amongst spellcasters.

A really tough choice, but I went with H5 Mage, for his originality. (And no glowing eyes.)
I maintain nonetheless that yin-yang dualism can be overcome. With sufficient enlightenment we can give substance to any distinction: mind without body, north without south, pleasure without pain. Remember, enlightenment is a function of willpower, not of physical strength.

The H3 mages are pretty dangerous units, come to think of it. Thanks to their melee penalty, they have respectable combat stats at close range (comparable to swordsmen, demon and basilisks) and are extremely good in siege with their special. They might even be considered better individually than Zealots, a level 5 unit.
The upgrade is too expensive though, for what you get (only minor stat increases)
