Voted HIII.

In HIV they are too fat, and in HV they don't look at all like "normal" peasant. More like low-level fat and drunk fighters.

In my mind, there is no way 1's peasent should lose this poll. It is the epitome of a peasent. 2's has a sickle, while can be used as a farming tool, is not usually the first weapon we come up with when thinking about peasents. 3's peasents look hideous, and 4 and 5 look like they should be on weightwatchers.

Damn commies. Sickles are way more common then all other usable-as-weapons farming implements.

The sickle rules. The kama is my fav weapon in NWN.

Voted H1:

He looks part shiftless, part stupid, part world weary, poor, more tired from marching than the weighed-down paladins, and you can see the fear in his eyes, especially when slaughtered. They were also better in H1 because they weren't per se necro fodder, but they were an irritant.

Sorry DL but I always like H1 peasants. H4 and H5 peasants are too fat and H3 are too clean. H2 have sickle, it's not right weapon for peasants - well if they have also hammer..

There's a reason why the hammer and sickle wasn't the hammer and pitchfork.

Sickle = agriculture; Hammer = industry/metalwork;

The pitchfork isn't the most common tool of a peasant, the sickle is.

Perhaps in your country. I mostly see sickle in Asterix & Obelix and in RTW.

Indeed.Scythe is more common than the sickle, because of the longer handle.

And these days, you don't see those either, as combines has taken over. Pitchforks are still in use though.

True, but they perform the same function.

And how does that impact medieval peasants GC?!

Why, they're were the ones that was talking in present tense. Though it would be quite a sight to behold on the battlefield if the peasants riding combines. The forge-haters would have an heart attack :devious:

You know combines aren't common everywhere, that's why we're using present tense. And they wouldn't be of much use in mountain areas, which is where i made most of my observations about peasants and their tools.

Now would somebody vote some more H2 please. H4 doesn't deserve #1.

Nothing gave me greater pleasure in HOMM than running across those "Scary" peasents gaurding a mine!
