Help in Heroes IV
Hey you real gamers --- I seem to be stuck in this game (Heroes 4) -- and I am just getting started. I am doing the second step in the first campaign and have who-ya-call-it trying to get to the Oracle. I took care of the first dungeon and gathered everything that was available. Then I went topside. crossed the bridge and cleaned up the area, all but he efrit group needed to get the sword needed to open the gate. NOLUCK. I keep getting killed. Tried to build up the troops but as much as I do the bad guys build too. What am I doing wrong? HELP please!!! I am an old man and would like to finish this befroe it's too late

I'm having difficulty with this scenario also, there's just to many creatures to defeat with only a small party, no matter how many spells you have.
You start the map with only heroes (a total of four,) two from the main plot, and two of your own who have carried over from the first scenario. The skill level is on Advanced.
This is only the second friggn' scenario of the first campaign!. My hero's are high in level, but the more days/weeks you wait, the more the neutral party grows in size.
Using the spell 'Visions' I get this info:
Efreet 60
Nightmare 43
Minotaur 119
Medusa 122
This army will squash Lysander.
My party consists of:
Crusaders 33
Monks 37
Proetho - Level 13 (Priest)
Orrin - Level 15 (General) Tactics + Combat
Lysander - Level 17 (Lord Commander) Tactics + Nobility
Ingham - Level 17 (Priest)

Taking a leaf out of GameFAQs:
One skill you must have in all your heroes is Combat. It increases their defence and makes battles a lot easier. Without it, well... in vanilla Heroes IV, that's not really a favourable option. The second quest gate is to the west at location (29,26). It requires that
you have the Sword of the Gods. The sword is located in the southeastern
corner of the map, but it’s guarded by some efreeti and friends. This should
be a tough battle, but luckily you can recruit some crusaders and monks in
the area, and there is a tree of knowledge nearby so you can gain a level
first. If the battle still gives you problems, then you can just wait for
more crusaders and monks to show up, and eventually you should be able to
overpower the creatures. Otherwise, just make use of spells like song of
peace and mass heal and bludgeon your way through the fight.

The first scenario in Might Campaign can be very troublesome. But nothing like the sheer difficulty of Chaos début... I wish thy luck!Ettercap wrote:I'll just use auto combat until I eventually will the damn fight.
I hope they're isn't any more scenarios like this one.
This is a scenario that you should easily win. If you're feeling unsure about your skills, don't try to tackle "This army will squash Lysander. " battles... And try to get a hold on the Wait button, along with the knowledge about the different spells in the game. After all, it ia a game of Heroes of Might (Combat is required) and Magic...
