I recently heard this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg_YueZ4fi8) for the first time and realised that it could have been the inspiration for Heroes 2's map reveal cheat code.
Does anyone know the origins of the other cheat codes in Heroes 1 and 2?
(I'm grouping H1 and H2 together because their cheat codes are just numbers)
[H2 & H1] Origins of the cheat codes

Oh I never knew there was this special cheat in H2. So that's the exception (the only non-numbers cheat in the first 2 games).
Re: [H2 & H1] Origins of the cheat codes
Nice find! I have never thought why these numbers were chosen for codes. Indeed, maybe some of them have an interesting backstory, but it probably takes an nwcer to enlighten us. The MM games are full of references to TV shows etc. and maybe the same have the origins of the codes (as also the case with H3 codes) if someone wishes to search.

Price of Loyalty was made by another firm. So maybe it is the reason. They made very good addon and very good cheat. Not for stupids giving million gold or legion units but really interesting modding tool.

The code for revealing the entire map was certainly inspired by that song
A couple of the codes seemed like they could be calendar dates, but other than that, only the black dragon code looked familiar. It's one digit off of the max value of a signed Short number, 32167 vs 32767, but probably isn't what the code is based on.

I have a question about H1 codes. Do they work? From my experiences only one code is correct - to reveal entire map. And if so, can somebody make a movie for youtube if they work???

Code dates? Interesting.
Probably code works only Price Loyalty in DOS so if you have Win version dont work.

I was surprised also to learn that there was more than 1 cheat code for H1, because I only knew of the map reveal cheat too.Taro wrote:I have a question about H1 codes. Do they work? I don't recall any mention of the other H1 cheats way back then, when I was surfing H1 and H2 websites.
