Heroes 3 logistics and pathfinding experiments

Unread postby Artas1984 » 28 Jan 2015, 13:49

Today i've decided to do a little simple experiment. I never was sure what type of ground is defined as rough in Heroes 3, so i've decided to check it out.

First i made a basic logistics test. I placed 4 heroes: first one has no logistics, second has basic, third has advanced, fourth has expert. The results should come to no surprise.

Now the same 4 heroes have replaced their logistics skills with pathfinding: first hero does not have pathfinding, second has basic, third has advanced, fourth has expert.

Grass, dirt, lava and underground terrains do not count as rough - no movement penalty.

It came as surprise that snow and sand terrains have the same movement penalty allowing to move 10 blocks. Rough terrain has lesser penalty than sand and snow allowing 12 blocks and making no difference what level of pathfining you posses, while swamp has the worst penalty allowing just 8 blocks.
Heroes franchise was not about the free actions of Heroes or monsters, it was not about 3D of shiny graphics either, it was about diversity and balance, simplicity of gameplay and realistic picture, strategy in it's purest form. That's why Heroes 3 will be the greatest game of all, because only Heroes 3 has all those qualities together, no matter which one you personally like more. This statement is unquestionable, uncriticized and undeniable .
