Multi-hex damage penalties - how do they work.

Unread postby pikeman93 » 10 Aug 2011, 20:17

I heard that there are damage reduction penalties if a unit's attack targets more than one hex. Let's say a cerebrus attacks two adjacent enemies. Assuming that the cerebrus was supposed to do 4.5 x 15 = 67.5 damage for one hex, what would the damage penalty be for each hex if it targets two hexes?

Thanks.

This is quite easy to try out...
I created a small map, the attacker with 100 cerberi + bless, the defender with 3 x 1000 rogues. Primary skills set so the attack of the cerberi is the same as the defense of the rogues.
Started a hotseat game and positioned the rogues properly, then attacked with the blessed cerberi.
When hitting all 3 stacks, the damage was 3 x 700. When hitting one stack, the damage was 1 x 700. So there is no penalty in this case.
Also no penalty for hydras and gold dragons.

Yeah. U got it.

IIRC penalty is for multi-hex attack of dragon breath type (but this only works for Heroes IV - not sure -).

Cerberi, Hydra, Magic Elemental didn't.
