Wog3,58f updated but game crashes when 3 players connected

Unread postby djs64 » 31 Jan 2011, 14:28

anyone has a solution for us?

our homm3 playgroup wants to play the wog mod for homm3(since homm5, shame, lame, will never be good enough) .

our problem is that it seems nearly impossible to get all three players connected to the same game. and the rare times we do get connected all three of us, the game crashes immediately.

anyone has a solution.

all answers appriciated.

Shouldn't it make no difference whatsoever, since it's related to crashes?..

hei "pol".

thx for reply

we have tried to use hammachi for tcpip games but we never seem to get the game to work there. (some might roll their eyes but in our country hamachi is not "the thing" for homm playing, just doesn't work)

anyway,, we have been playing for homm3 a long time now with "gameranger", and it has been working perfectly. it's only after we have installed the wog-update that we are beginning to have problems.

we have allso tried connecting through "hard" ip adresses (one of the players has a fixed/hard ip adress and what has been working well for homm3, but allso not for the wog-update.

we recently tried connecting through a "open vpn" tunnel and all is well as long as we are only two players, in fact everything works perfectly when we are only two players, when we want to play three player we seem to get bigger problems (that is after wog-update, not before)

so thx for hamachi suggestion, though it may not resolve our problem.

has anybody else any experience playing three or more players in multiplayer with wog-update?

hi "great e"

thx for posting..

it is true it is all about crashing,, but game does not crash when we play "two-player mode". only when we play togheter all three.. that's when things crash.. we all have the same versions, etc.. in fact we have copied each others game folders and have tried using them together.

The only thing I can suggest is turning off the music on all machines. It's a very frequent cause for crashes. Though it's not that frequent as you describe there.
